Application of artificial intelligence in vocational education

On November 6, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Institute of Vocational Education Research organized a workshop on "Application of AI tools in vocational education development" with the participation of experts, scientists, and managers.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Thao - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations said that the application of new technology, including the application of artificial intelligence (AI), has become a core innovation tool of the vocational education system, aiming towards "smart vocational education - Smart TVET".

Resolution 57 has oriented the development of science and technology, including making AI a core technology to promote innovation in production, business and social governance. Vietnam is promoting digital transformation, developing the digital economy and building high-quality human resources, in which vocational education (VET) plays a central role in training a technical workforce with digital skills to meet new development requirements.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, former Deputy Director of the Department of International Relations - Government Office, affirmed that technology application has become an inevitable trend, including AI application in automation, personalized learning, and simulation of vocational skills, while pointing out challenges in infrastructure and human resources. However, AI application has two sides, especially the use of ChatGPT with many incorrect data. Therefore, users must have control and assessment. Using AI should only be considered a tool.

Coming from Hanoi College of Electronics and Refrigeration, Mr. Le Viet Cuong shared the practical implementation of AI in vocational training, including the model of using ChatGPT API to support automatic scoring, AI + VR to simulate occupational operations and the cooperation program "AI for Vocational Skills" between the former General Department of Vocational Education and Microsoft Vietnam. Mr. Le Viet Cuong proposed to strengthen digital capacity training for lecturers, build open learning materials on AI and promote tripartite cooperation "State - School - Enterprise".

At the workshop, experts and educators agreed that AI is not only a support tool, but also a strategic foundation to help Vietnamese vocational education transform strongly - from a traditional training model to a smart, digital and internationally integrated training model.
