This afternoon, September 30, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that the department has just sent a document to the People's Committees at the commune level and affiliated educational institutions about proactively responding to storms and floods.
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requires: based on weather and natural disaster situations, proactively review and prepare plans, deploy disaster response plans according to the "4 on-site" motto suitable to school conditions.
Many streets in Hanoi were flooded this morning, September 30.

Check the tree system in the school campus, if you find any perennial trees that are at risk of breaking or falling, you must report it for timely handling. If you cannot do it immediately, you must warn of the danger and contact a professional agency for handling as soon as possible.
Have a plan and promptly move assets, machinery, equipment, tables, chairs, records, books to a safe place, ensuring no damage, breakage, loss, and minimizing damage caused by storms.
Educational units and facilities in the storm-hit areas with boarding students must closely manage their students. The movement of students must be closely coordinated between schools and families according to the plan and direction of local authorities, ensuring absolute safety.
At the same time, prepare enough drinking water, food and provisions to ensure the living needs of students staying at school during storms.
"Educational units and facilities affected by storms and floods where students cannot go to school to study and live should proactively develop appropriate learning plans and methods," the document stated.
Schools also need to proactively clean the environment and overcome the consequences when natural disasters and incidents occur. Cleaning classrooms immediately after storms and floods ensures safety, cleanliness, and disease prevention in schools.
Notably, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested: "Absolutely do not organize extracurricular activities or collective activities, especially in places at risk of flooding and landslides. Establish an information channel with parents to manage students when participating in local activities, minimizing the risks that may occur due to storms and rains."
According to records, this morning, some private schools proactively let students stay home to study online; announced the postponement of periodic testing schedules and extracurricular activities...
However, most schools in Hanoi still maintain their school schedules. Many parents are "heartbroken" when the rain floods the streets but their children are still at school, not knowing how they will get home after school in the afternoon.
