Arrange accommodation for students
On the afternoon of September 30, after a prolonged heavy rain, many streets in Hanoi were flooded and congested, making it difficult for parents to get to school to pick up their children on time. By 7 p.m., many people were still jostling on the congested streets. To reassure parents, many schools continued to open, organized dinner for students, and arranged food and accommodation for them.
Ms. Tran Thuy Duong - Principal of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted said that until late this afternoon, there were still many students at school who had not been picked up by their parents. If the heavy rain and flooded roads continue, some students will have to stay at school.
“The school has checked the kitchen, there are still staff on duty and enough instant noodles, cup noodles... for students. Homeroom teachers inform parents to rest assured, they can come to pick up their children late. If they cannot come to pick up their children, they should contact the school so that they can arrange a place for the students to sleep at night.”
The Board of Directors of Ngoi Sao Hoang Mai School (Dinh Cong Ward) also sent an "urgent" notice to parents: Students who remain at school on the afternoon of September 30 will be provided with dinner by the school. In special cases, if parents do not come to pick them up, students can register to stay overnight at school. The school will arrange teachers and staff on duty to ensure the safety of the children.
Teacher Nguyen Xuan Khang, Chairman of Marie Curie Education System, sent a message to parents and students: The school will not let students and everyone go hungry or cold because they cannot go home. Dinner is completely free. The school kitchen, teachers, and staff assigned to the task will take care of food and accommodation for those who have to stay at school on the night of September 30.
On the evening of September 30, hundreds of students from Giang Vo Secondary School (Giang Vo Ward) also stayed at school. According to Principal To Thi Hai Yen, students whose parents had not yet picked them up were given dinner at school. Parents can rest assured because the teachers are still here to take care of their children. If parents cannot pick up their children, the school will provide them with a warm place to sleep.
Mr. Mai Quy Tung, a parent of a student at Giang Vo Secondary School, said he was very touched by the teachers' affection. Even though it was late at night, the teachers were still at school, feeding the children and ready for them to sleep over. The teachers had not yet picked up their own children but were still here to take care of the students.

Deploying online teaching
On the morning of September 30, despite heavy rain, Hanoi schools still tried to maintain their normal school schedules. At noon of the same day, the Department of Education and Training sent a dispatch to the People's Committees of communes, wards and affiliated schools about responding to the consequences of storm No. 10.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that schools can flexibly adjust their schedules and holidays to suit students' needs and ensure absolute safety; strictly implement disaster prevention instructions according to the "4 on-site" motto; review and promptly handle tree systems at risk of falling, and move assets, machinery, records, and books to safe places.
Units affected by storms and floods where students cannot go to school need to proactively develop plans and appropriate learning methods. Schools with boarding students need to closely manage students, ensure adequate food and coordinate with families to ensure their travel is absolutely safe.
At Phan Huy Chu High School - Dong Da, when the weather continued to rain heavily, the school had a flexible plan to switch to online teaching for some classes on the afternoon of September 30. Teacher Cao Thanh Nga, the school's principal, said that the school would teach online on October 1.
Similarly, at Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, due to heavy rains preventing many students from going to school, teachers took the initiative to teach online for absent classes. By the afternoon of September 30, the school officially announced that students would be studying online from tomorrow, October 1.
The University of Education High School and the Natural Sciences High School have also sent notices to parents and students about the implementation of online teaching to cope with the storm. Students receive information about online learning from their homeroom teachers to implement their learning.
On October 1, students in Hanoi city have a day off.
Due to the continued heavy rain, affecting the study and transportation system throughout the city, under the direction of the city's leaders, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training decided to let all educational institutions in the city close tomorrow (October 1). Teachers can flexibly teach online to students. Schools must strictly implement the contents according to Official Dispatch 3978/SGDĐT-CTTTHSSV dated September 30 of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
