On the afternoon of November 5, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province issued a document requesting educational institutions in the area to proactively respond to storm Kalmaegi.
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requested the chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones to direct affiliated schools and heads of educational units to let students stay home from school from the afternoon of November 6 until further notice.
The Department also requested that educational institutions closely coordinate with local authorities in storm prevention and control; regularly monitor weather developments. Along with that, arrange forces on duty 24/24 hours and maintain regular contact with authorities and rescue agencies to promptly respond to incidents.
At the same time, units inspected and reinforced roofs, windows, signs, trees, electric poles, dormitories, kitchens, libraries, and computer rooms; moved and preserved records and teaching equipment to safe, high places and backed up electronic data; increased propaganda, raised vigilance, and response skills for staff, teachers, and students.
Schools should proactively maintain contact with teachers and students in isolated areas. In addition, they should be ready to support, help and receive people seeking shelter from the storm.
After the storm, urgently repair damage, clean up and sanitize schools, and ensure safety before students return to school.
