Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requires schools to focus on implementing preventive and response measures when storm Kalmaegi affects the Ho Chi Minh City area. Prepare plans to respond to the effects of the storm, especially thunderstorms, tornadoes, landslides, and flooding caused by heavy rain combined with high tides.
Urgently repair and reinforce structures at risk of being unsafe, coordinate with specialized units to trim the green tree system inside the school, check the sewer system and the power grid to ensure the safety of students, teachers and administrators before storms and floods occur.
The Department of Education and Training also requested schools to prepare plans to evacuate students and teachers to safe places; move documents and equipment to dry places before storms and floods. Proactively coordinate with local authorities to receive support in terms of expertise, materials and equipment when situations arise when affected by storm Kalmaegi.
Closely monitor the development of storms and rains, maintain regular contact with authorities and local rescue forces to promptly respond in case of incidents.
Have a plan ready for online learning, postpone class schedules during complicated stormy days (if any).
Urgently repair damages; clean and sanitize schools and classrooms immediately after storms to ensure safety for students and teachers, cleanliness, and disease prevention at the unit.
Actively coordinate with the local Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to organize propaganda for teachers, students and parents on disaster response skills, first aid and ensuring safety in emergency situations.
In particular, the Department of Education and Training directed schools to temporarily suspend extracurricular educational activities for students before, during and after the storm until safety measures return to normal.
