Phu Tan commune has over 90% of people following Hoa Hao Buddhism, over 95% of people are Kinh ethnic group, the rest are Khmer and Chinese.

In the commune, there is the Central Executive Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha, 4 Executive Committees of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha under the 4 communes before the merger, 1 Hoa Hao Buddhist College, 2 religious establishments and 7 belief establishments.

In general, religious organizations operate stably and in accordance with the law. The situation of ethnic minorities in the area is basically stable, and their material and spiritual lives are increasingly improving.

The locality regularly pays attention to propaganda work, mobilizing religious and ethnic compatriots to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; promoting the spirit of solidarity, actively contributing to patriotic emulation movements.

Speaking at the survey, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Thinh highly appreciated the results achieved by Phu Tan commune in religious and ethnic work.

Comrade Nguyen Huu Thinh suggested that the locality continue to grasp the situation, proactively propagate and mobilize religious dignitaries, officials and followers to live a "good life, good religion", join hands to build the great national unity bloc, and contribute to local socio -economic development.
