In order to meet the travel needs of people and contribute to reducing traffic congestion in the area, on November 6, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong approved the policy of extending the operation of the passenger wharf across the Binh Quoi River (Binh Quoi ferry), managed and operated by Binh Quoi Ferry Terminal Transport Service Trading Company Limited.

Accordingly, the extension period is 12 months, assigning the People's Committees of Binh Quoi Ward and Thu Duc Ward to coordinate in managing and ensuring waterway traffic safety during operation.
In the long term, Ho Chi Minh City assigned the two localities to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to review and guide the completion of procedures on planning, land, and construction according to regulations, to orient sustainable operations for the passenger wharf across the Binh Quoi River.
The extension policy is considered a temporary solution, creating favorable conditions for people to travel between Binh Quoi area and Thanh Da peninsula, while the city continues to study long-term waterway transport and connecting infrastructure options.
Binh Quoi ferry was once a vital ferry connecting the North-South highway nearly 300 years ago.
