Phu Tho issues policy to support Lao students studying abroad

On November 5, information from Phu Tho province, the Provincial People's Council has just issued Resolution No. 38/2025/NQ-HDND regulating the support regime for Lao students studying abroad under the cooperation agreement of Phu Tho province to conduct training at colleges and universities in the province.

Accordingly, the Resolution stipulates support policies for students studying abroad in Lao localities under the cooperation agreement of Phu Tho province to conduct training at colleges and universities in the province.

The policy to support Lao students studying abroad is implemented to create favorable conditions for Lao students studying and living in Phu Tho.

The subjects of application are students from Lao localities studying under the cooperation agreement of Phu Tho province at colleges and universities in the province.

The policy includes long-term training for intermediate, college, university and postgraduate levels as prescribed (with training duration of 12 months or more) and Vietnamese language training courses for entrance exams and admission; short-term training for training courses, knowledge and skills improvement (with training duration of less than 12 months).

Colleges and universities conducting training, relevant agencies, organizations and units in management and implementation of long-term and short-term training policies for overseas students from Lao localities to study under the cooperation agreement of Phu Tho province.

Regarding payment standards, training costs for long-term training systems are 2,850,000 VND/person/month.

For short-term training system, it is 5,720,000 VND/person/month.

Living expenses are allowances for pocket money, food, personal clothing, etc. provided by the training institution to international students.

For long-term international students: for intermediate, college and university training levels including Vietnamese language training courses for entrance exams and admission to these levels, the fee is 4,050,000 VND/person/month.

For postgraduate training levels including Vietnamese language training courses for entrance exams, admission to these levels is 4,550,000 VND/person/month.

Short-term international students receive support of VND 5,400,000/person/month.

In addition, Laotian students are also supported with initial funding. Long-term students are supported with VND 4,640,000/person.

Short-term international students are supported with 3,720,000 VND/person.

Travel expense support is a travel expense support provided by the training institution to international students twice (to Vietnam when enrolling and returning home when graduating) of 2,000,000 VND/person/time.

This Resolution comes into force from January 1, 2026.
