On November 5, the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training issued a document proactively allowing students to stay home from school to prevent and avoid storm Kalmaegi.
According to the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training, information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm Kalmaegi is approaching land and is likely to directly affect the eastern region of Gia Lai province in the coming days.
To ensure the safety of students, staff, teachers and employees, all educational establishments in 58 communes and wards in the east of Gia Lai province (Binh Dinh province before the merger) proactively let students stay home from the afternoon of November 5 to the end of November 7 to proactively prevent and avoid storms.
All educational establishments in 77 communes and wards in the west of Gia Lai province (Gia Lai province before the merger) proactively let students stay home from school if the rain, flood, and storm situation becomes complicated.
During the school break, principals of educational institutions are required to closely monitor weather information. In addition, teachers, students, and parents are required to not travel to dangerous areas and to proactively take measures to ensure safety for themselves and their families.
Along with that, the principal (in the affected area) reinforced the school, creating conditions for the local government to use the school as an evacuation site to avoid the storm.
In addition, promptly repair damage, clean and sanitize schools/classrooms immediately after storms to ensure safety, cleanliness, and disease prevention. At the same time, stabilize teaching and learning order, so as not to affect the 2025-2026 school year plan.
