The 24th Vietnam Film Festival is a national cultural and artistic event held in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong and Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy chaired the press conference.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said: After 23 editions, the Vietnam Film Festival has become a symbol of national cinema pride. Each edition is an opportunity to look back, to affirm the new progress of Vietnamese cinema, and more importantly, to place faith in the young generation of filmmakers - those who are continuing to write the story of Vietnamese cinema in the digital age.
The 24th Vietnam Film Festival is held in Ho Chi Minh City - the economic , cultural, dynamic, creative and internationally integrated center of the country. This is the gathering place for domestic and international producers, directors, actors and talents of Vietnamese cinema - who are joining hands to write a new face of Vietnamese cinema in the new era, reaching out - confident, courageous and full of aspirations - in the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
Also according to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, looking back over the past two years since the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival, we can clearly see the strong vitality of our country's cinema: the quantity and quality of films have increased, the film market is vibrant, Vietnamese works are positively received at international film festivals and the young generation of filmmakers is full of courage and creativity. These achievements show that Vietnamese cinema is making a breakthrough on the path of professionalization, modernization and international integration. Our country is entering a new era of development - the era of artificial intelligence, digital technology and globalization, in which era, Vietnamese cinema needs to grow stronger, not only with techniques, technology or production experience, but also with Vietnamese cultural courage, national identity and creativity.

Speaking at the press conference, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy expressed her honor and joy when the 24th Vietnam Film Festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City. This is an activity for Ho Chi Minh City to introduce its strong transformation, affirming its role as an economic, cultural, educational and scientific - technological center, especially in the context of Ho Chi Minh City joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of cinema; at the same time marking the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam Film Festival (1970-2025).
Through that, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy hopes that the 24th Vietnam Film Festival will fully promote the spirit of welcoming the beginning of an era of growth - an era in which Vietnam determines the direction of strong development, deep and sustainable integration, the country enters a new stage of development, affirming its position in the international arena.

With the slogan "Vietnamese Cinema - Sustainable Development and International Integration in the New Era", the 24th Vietnam Film Festival is not only a place to honor excellent cinematic works, but also affirms the mettle and aspiration of Vietnamese cinema in its journey of deep integration with the world.
According to the Organizing Committee, to date, the 24th Vietnam Film Festival has received 30 feature films, 120 documentaries, 21 scientific films, 32 animated films and established a Film Selection Council for the competition and films shown in the Panorama Program of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival.
In which, the Films participating in the Film Festival include: The competition film program includes: 16 feature films; 36 documentaries; 14 scientific films; 21 animated films:
Panorama Program: Contemporary Vietnamese Film Program, including films produced between the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival and the 24th Vietnam Film Festival (not included in the Competition Film Program), includes: 14 feature films; 25 documentaries; 7 scientific films; 11 animated films.

Within the framework of the Film Festival, many sideline activities will take place such as: From November 15 to 20, 2025, the Film Week to Welcome the 24th Vietnam Film Festival will take place in many provinces and cities across the country. This is not only an opportunity for the public to enjoy typical cinematic works but also contributes to promoting and honoring Vietnamese cinema. The Film Week is an opportunity for generations of audiences, especially young people, to better understand history, culture and humanistic values through 15 films selected for free screening such as: Childhood Moon; Peach, Pho and Piano; Burning Grass Scent; Hong Ha Lady; Red Dawn; Jasmine; Returning People;...
In particular, with the support and coordination of the People's Army Cinema/General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the film "Red Rain" will be screened during the Film Week to contribute to spreading the spirit of patriotism as well as love of cinema to audiences in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hue, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City.
From November 21 to 25, 2025, the photo exhibition "Ho Chi Minh City rises with the country through the perspective of Cinema" will take place. The exhibition is expected to introduce about 250 printed images extracted from documents and cinematographic works archived at the Vietnam Film Institute; documents and cinematographic works collected from the Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Tourism, Television Station, Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association on the filming background, people, life, the process of innovation, integration and development of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City through the following main contents: The period of Southern Liberation, national reunification (1945 - 1975); The period of national construction and development (1976 - 1985); The period of innovation, integration and development (1986 - 2025).
