HCMC: Registration data of many vehicles does not match residence data

The police force recorded that many car owners had changed their residence, or sold their cars but had not completed the procedures to transfer the ownership of the cars or the vehicles no longer existed. In Ho Chi Minh City, there are currently 12 million cars whose data will be checked, collected and cleaned.

Commune-level police go to each household to check, compare, and collect information on vehicle owners and vehicles.

Specifically, the Traffic Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police coordinated with local police to visit each household, residential area, and boarding house to collect and verify vehicle information. The authorities also guided people to re-declare vehicle data and the vehicle owner's residential address; compare data between the vehicle registration and management system and actual vehicle information.

During the implementation process, the police force recorded many cases of vehicles with inconsistent information between registration data and residence data.

The vehicle owner has changed residence, transferred ownership but has not completed the procedures to revoke the vehicle registration certificate, license plate and transfer the vehicle name or the vehicle no longer exists.

Field review and comparison helps eliminate "junk" data. Incorrect, duplicate, or incorrectly identified cases are recorded for adjustment and update to the vehicle registration and management system.
