According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, recently, some media outlets have reported on the unprofessional conduct of carry-on baggage checks at check-in areas and boarding gates by airlines and ground service units, causing inconvenience to passengers and affecting the image and quality of service of the aviation industry.

The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority has requested airlines and ground handling units to quickly review the procedures for controlling carry-on baggage at check-in areas and boarding gates to avoid congestion and facilitate passengers; and to use baggage weighing equipment that meets standards and is aesthetically pleasing.
At the same time, units need to strengthen the dissemination of the airline's baggage handling regulations on their websites, ticket offices, and agency networks, as well as instruct staff serving passengers on professional and friendly service attitudes.
Currently, Vietnamese airlines use weighing equipment to check passengers' carry-on baggage right before boarding. Around the world , several airlines such as Ryanair, Wizz Air, ANA, JAL, AirAsia, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, etc., also strictly control cabin baggage to ensure safety, correct weight, and maintain in-flight service standards.
According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, carrying too much baggage can prolong boarding and disembarking times. Every kilogram of excess baggage affects the aircraft's weight balance, fuel consumption, and the time required for aircraft door closures to ensure on-time departure. Therefore, airlines need to tighten carry-on baggage regulations to ensure flight safety, reduce fuel costs, and maintain on-time departures.
