Customers need to pay attention to new regulations on carry-on baggage.
According to new regulations of Vietnam Airlines, acceptance and collection of fees for carry-on baggage will be carried out according to specific principles, to ensure operational safety and service quality.
In some cases, this baggage may be stowed in the cargo hold, or in the carry-on baggage compartment.
The airline does not accept excess baggage if it affects the flight's departure time, and only allows a maximum weight of 10kg over the regulation.
Excess baggage is only accepted by passengers who are capable of carrying and arranging their own baggage. Cases requiring staff assistance will not be accepted.

Regarding fees, excess carry-on baggage will be collected directly at the boarding gate.
Specifically, baggage exceeding the maximum weight by up to 10kg, or exceeding one piece of baggage by 10kg will be charged the equivalent of one piece of checked baggage at the airport.
Any carry-on baggage exceeding the standard dimensions will be charged the same as an oversized checked baggage item. Any baggage exceeding both the maximum weight of 10kg and the standard dimensions will be charged the same as a bulky checked baggage item at the airport.
On the Vietnam Airlines website, the price of additional baggage at the airport for domestic flights in Vietnam ranges from 600,000 VND. International flights are calculated based on the flight route and region in USD.
For example, on domestic flights such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi , a 23kg checked baggage costs about 600,000 VND. Thus, if a passenger's hand luggage exceeds the standard, maximum 10kg or 1 piece, the fee will be 600,000 VND/piece at the boarding gate.
Payment can be made by credit card, debit card or cash, depending on the payment infrastructure at each airport.
