VHO - The Memorial Space for Major General and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien was inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City – a place for traditional education and paying tribute to the steadfast soldier.

Delegates performed the inauguration ceremony for the memorial space dedicated to Major General and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien.

The Management Board of the Hoang The Thien Memorial House recently inaugurated a memorial space for Major General Hoang The Thien (1922-1995), Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Head of the Central Committee's B68 Department, former Deputy Minister of National Defense , former First Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and former Political Commissar of the Truong Son Command.

The memorial space for Major General Hoang The Thien, located at 2/47 Phan Thuc Duyet Street, Tan Son Nhat Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, is designed as a continuous space including a memorial altar, a portrait statue, and memorabilia, documents, and images about the revolutionary life and activities of Major General and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien.

Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien (real name Luu Van Thi, born October 20, 1922 in Hai Phong ) came from a family with a tradition of patriotism. He joined the revolution at the age of 18, became a Party member at 23, and enlisted in the army in 1947. He was promoted to Major General in 1974. He passed away on September 5, 1995 in Ho Chi Minh City, at the age of 73.

For his achievements during his revolutionary career, Major General Hoang The Thien was awarded many prestigious honors, such as: the Ho Chi Minh Order; the First-Class Independence Order; the First, Second, and Third-Class Military Merit Orders; and the First-Class Combat Merit Order.

The Royal Sahamtreii Order, First Class (posthumously awarded by the King of Cambodia); the Order of Valor (posthumously awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Lao People's Democratic Republic), along with many other medals, commemorative badges, and insignia from both domestic and international competitions.

On January 23, 2025, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President of Vietnam.

Currently, in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City , Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, and several other localities nationwide, there are roads and streets named after Major General and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien.

The inauguration ceremony of the Memorial Space for Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien was held on the occasion of the anniversary of the Major General's birth.

Mr. Hoang Anh Thi , Standing Member of the Management Board of the Hoang The Thien Memorial House, said that the inauguration ceremony of the Memorial Space for Major General Hoang The Thien , Hero of the People's Armed Forces , was held on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Major General's birth (October 20, 1922 – October 20, 2025) .

Previously, on October 20, 2017, the Ho Chi Minh City Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Liaison Committee, the 4th Army Corps Veterans Traditional Liaison Committee, and the Southern Air Force Traditional Club Liaison Committee jointly organized a ceremony commemorating the 95th anniversary of the birth of Major General Hoang The Thien and inaugurated the Major General Hoang The Thien Memorial House at 2/47 Phan Thuc Duyet Street.

Here, more than 200 documents, images, and artifacts about the revolutionary life of the Major General spanning over 55 years are displayed and introduced to the public – demonstrating deep gratitude towards this steadfast soldier of the Vietnam People's Army.

Since then, the Hoang The Thien Memorial House has become a cultural landmark of Ho Chi Minh City, a meeting place for veterans, researchers, collectors, students, and a large number of people.

More than just a space for remembrance and gratitude, this place also contributes to educating about revolutionary traditions, arousing patriotism and national pride, especially among today's young generation.

On the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth (October 20, 1922 – October 20, 2025) and the 30th anniversary of the death (September 5, 1995 – September 5, 2025) of Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang The Thien, the Memorial House Management Board renovated and beautified the Memorial Space according to the design of architect Ngo Truong Duy and solemnly organized the inauguration ceremony.

Mr. Hoang Anh Thi added that in the future, the Management Board will continue to collect and supplement documents and artifacts about Major General Hoang The Thien, in order to enrich the exhibition content and better serve the needs of the public for visiting and researching.

The Management Board also affirmed its determination to preserve and promote the value of the Memorial House, viewing it as a place for traditional education and fostering revolutionary moral qualities for future generations – continuing the pride and spirit of dedication to the Fatherland left behind by Major General Hoang The Thien.
