Quang Ninh builds 'Happy School'

Journey to spread love

“Happy School” is not only an educational model, but also a philosophy of life, a journey of spreading love. For every teacher, going to school every day is not only to teach but also to sow the seeds of happiness with students.

From the 2022-2023 school year, the Department of Education and Training has deployed "Happy School" at many levels, focusing on students, teachers as a source of positive energy and parents as partners.

This is not only a competitive movement but also a strategic orientation for education to transform in a humane, modern and sustainable direction.

Since then, many programs have been implemented to create a material and spiritual foundation for students to develop comprehensively.

In early November 2025, Quang Ninh simultaneously started construction of 6 schools in the land border communes, creating an exciting atmosphere, spreading confidence and expectations among teachers, students and people to join hands in building a modern and synchronous education system, creating a foundation for a strong, stable and sustainable development of the border region.

Quang Ninh currently has a national standard school rate of over 83%, among the highest in the country. In many localities, investment in infrastructure is accompanied by improvements in green - clean - beautiful landscapes, integrating art, sports and indigenous culture into school life, helping students feel "living in school" rather than just "going to school".

One of the typical examples is Bai Chay Primary School, which is recognized as a typical “happy school” of the province. Here, teachers and students together create a positive learning environment with 3 criteria: “Love - Safety - Respect”.

The classroom is not only a space for knowledge, but also a place to sow positive emotions with "love corners", "wish mailboxes", "zero-point days", or "happy hours".

“Wish Corner” is where students write down their small wishes. The school creates conditions for students to participate in many clubs for gifted students, STEM, art, English… to help them develop comprehensive abilities, confidence and creativity. Creative experiences, environmental protection, reading and sports activities are organized regularly.

Not only at primary level, the "Happy School" model has spread strongly to preschool level, where children's first emotions and personalities are formed.

Hoa Phuong Kindergarten (Mao Khe Ward) has created a friendly and open learning environment with the philosophy “Every day at school is a happy day”. The classrooms are designed to be open and decorated with the children’s own products.

Teachers do not teach in a “teacher-speaker” style, but instead participate with children in exploration and experience activities. Children are free to choose their own play areas and activities according to their interests and their individuality is respected.

The school also organizes “Family Day” inviting parents to participate in learning and creative activities, thereby closely connecting school-family-society. The “Happy School” model has contributed to changing educational thinking from “teaching children to read and write” to “helping children to love, share, be confident and creative”.

Care for the teaching staff

To have happy students, first of all, there must be happy teachers. Therefore, the province pays special attention to caring for the material and spiritual life and professional development of the teaching staff.

Training programs to improve communication skills, pedagogical behavior, emotional management, etc. are held regularly.

Many schools have implemented "sharing corners", "happy teacher libraries", and "weekend cafes" to provide teachers with a space to exchange, rest, and regenerate positive energy.

For every teacher, happiness comes from the eyes of students, from a respectful and sharing working environment.

An important element in the happy school model is the connection between school and parents.

Quang Ninh encourages schools to organize forums for parents to learn happily with their children, and to build regular dialogue channels for parents to share their children's psychology and learning behavior with teachers.

This consensus helps create a “triangle of happiness”: School - Family - Society, in which students are the center, loved and protected.

From the above models, it can be seen that Quang Ninh is gradually shaping the identity of "Education for human happiness" towards a humane and modern education.

The goal by 2030 is that over 80% of educational facilities in the province will meet the standards of the “Happy School” model. At the same time, a team of professional teachers, dynamic students and active parents will be built.
