At the invitation of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Luong Cuong, and his wife, King Philippe and Queen of Belgium will pay a State visit to Vietnam from March 31 to April 4, 2025.

The King visited Vietnam in 1993, 2003, and 2012 as Crown Prince Philippe.

Queen Mathilde of Belgium was born on January 20, 1973, in Brussels, Belgium. She holds a Master's degree in Psychology from the Catholic University of Louvain and a Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy from the Haute École Léonard de Vinci.

She visited Vietnam in 2012 as the Princess of Belgium, accompanied by Crown Prince Philippe, and again in 2023 as the Honorary President of UNICEF Belgium. The Queen loves Vietnam and enjoys visiting different parts of the country.

Vietnam and the Kingdom of Belgium officially established diplomatic relations on March 22, 1973, just two months after the Paris Agreement was signed.

Over the past 50 years, bilateral relations between the two countries have been continuously strengthened and developed well in various fields, especially political -diplomatic relations, trade, agriculture, education and training, scientific and technological cooperation, and development cooperation... at the federal, regional, and community levels.

Notably, in 2018, the two countries established a Strategic Partnership in the field of agriculture – a significant milestone in diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In October 2023, the Belgian House of Representatives passed a resolution on supporting Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange. This was the first time a foreign parliament had passed such a resolution, thereby contributing to raising international awareness and calling on countries to support Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange.
