On the afternoon of August 29, coach Philippe Troussier announced the list of 31 Vietnamese national team players to practice and compete in friendly matches on the occasion of FIFA Days in September 2023.
Among the familiar faces, it is worth noting the return of midfielder Do Hung Dung after a period of absence due to injury and veteran striker Nguyen Van Quyet - the domestic striker who scored the most goals in V-League 2023. In addition, the return of names such as Nguyen Duc Chien and Duong Thanh Hao also received high expectations.

With the goal of building the most optimal force for the team towards the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in Asia, Coach Philippe Troussier also gave opportunities to many new faces such as: Hoang Thai Binh, Nguyen Huu Son, Pham Trung Hieu, Le Pham Thanh Long, Pham Van Luan and Vu Quang Nam. These are the faces that have impressed Coach Philippe Troussier in the matches at V-League 2023 and promise to increase the competitiveness of the Vietnamese team in the coming time.
In the list of 31 players joining the Vietnam national team this time, Viettel FC contributed the most players with 7 players; Hanoi FC contributed 5 players. The 2023 V-League champion Hanoi FC only had 4 players, of which Vu Van Thanh and Phan Van Duc were absent. Vu Van Thanh's former teammates at Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Nguyen Cong Phuong (Yokohama FC) and Nguyen Van Toan (Seoul E-land) were called up.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will start training from September 1. On September 11, the team will play an international friendly match with the Palestinian team at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh. This is also the only match of the Vietnamese team during FIFA Days in September 2023.
