VBA and efforts to develop community basketball.

Recently, the Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA) and Phong Son Sports Company signed a cooperation agreement aimed at community development. Phong Son Sports Company is a leading investor in grassroots sports facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, with a chain of competition-standard training courts (basketball, soccer, badminton, volleyball) located in schools across many bustling districts.

In addition to the sports center, the company also has a basketball academy that has partnered with BGrow Basketball Academy (Korea) to train students aged 5-16 with advanced basketball methods from Korea and provide opportunities for students to participate in tournaments within and outside the system to improve their skills.

Mr. Tran Chu Sa - CEO of VBA shared: “From the beginning, VBA has always aimed at developing the community, especially the next generation, through various activities such as school exchanges and supporting amateur tournaments to instill a love of basketball in students and enthusiasts of the sport.

Community basketball programs such as School Visit (organized by VBA clubs), Dream Basketball (donating basketball hoops), and support for VBA's amateur tournaments have reached thousands of students and players in many localities. Simultaneously, they have become highly anticipated activities during the season, with more extensive and far-reaching program requirements. Each year, the VBA constantly strives to find ways to inspire the community in a broader, more multifaceted, and long-term manner.

The VBA possesses strengths in professional expertise and influence among young people, while Phong Son has strengths in relationships with amateur leagues. By combining the strengths of each side, the VBA and Phong Son can attract basketball enthusiasts, those unfamiliar with basketball, and fans who appreciate professional basketball skills.

VBA hopes that the impact of our upcoming community projects will bring positive effects and create a stronger impetus for community development.”

Looking towards the future, Mr. Pham Van Phong - General Director of Phong Son Sports Company - affirmed: "Over 23 years of operation, we have always strived to affirm our position as a modern, multi-functional sports center where people can improve their health and develop their passion for sports. With a community-oriented goal, the company continuously invests in modern facilities and equipment, while organizing diverse sports activities to attract a large number of participants. According to the cooperation agreement, the two parties will develop the community based on four objectives: developing basketball in the community (raising awareness and encouraging people, especially students, to participate in the sport), training and developing a volunteer system (creating a young, dynamic, and enthusiastic workforce for community projects), cooperating in developing souvenir products to promote brands and increase revenue for both parties, and the final important goal of jointly building and implementing short-term training camps for international students to improve professional skills and bring Vietnamese basketball to the world stage.
