On the evening of December 15th, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team suffered a bitter 2-3 defeat against Thailand in the SEA Games 33 final.
This defeat was even more bitter as the two teams competed fiercely in the final set, and ultimately Thailand won with a score of 25-23. However, their winning score sparked considerable controversy.
Specifically, Pimpichaya Kokram served the ball towards the back of the court, and the Vietnamese girls deliberately gave up the ball, believing it was out, but the referee awarded the point to Thailand.
This score sparked a major controversy in the volleyball community. Vietnamese fans were even divided into two halves.
Numerous slow-motion replays afterwards also failed to show fans whether the ball had gone out of bounds or not. But Vietnam had to accept defeat as they had exhausted their right to appeal (challenge).

Late on December 15th, Thai volleyball websites were flooded with posts about a photo – allegedly taken by a member of the Thai national volleyball team's coaching staff.
This photo, taken from behind the technical referee, captures the moment the ball hits the floor, as seen on a computer screen.

In this photo, the ball is still in the field, indicating that the referee's decision to award the goal to Thailand was correct.
"Overwhelmed with joy. The image confirms the referee was right, Thailand scored the point correctly" - commented Pantip, Thailand's largest volleyball forum.
However, these are just images posted by specialized websites or forums. Neither the Thai press nor the organizers have confirmed whether these images are authentic.
