Thach Hai Beach is located in Thach Hai commune, just 10 km east of Ha Tinh city center. For a long time, the beach has attracted tourists and locals alike due to its long, white sandy shore and clear blue waters. With a coastline of approximately 9 km, Thach Hai forms a harmonious natural complex of forest and sea, and is also associated with many historical landmarks. Another distinctive feature is that Thach Hai Beach has largely retained its pristine, unspoiled beauty, remaining largely undeveloped, thus preserving its appeal and offering a high level of experiential tourism .
With the goal of "awakening" the tourism potential of Thach Hai beach, in recent years, Ha Tinh City has focused on investing in upgrading infrastructure, beautifying the landscape, and expanding tourism spaces in an environmentally and community-friendly direction, becoming an ideal choice for those who love green and sustainable tourism.

Mr. Bui Dinh Lam, Chairman of the Thach Hai Commune People's Committee, said: "Thanks to the attention of the city government, the 5-kilometer-long road surrounding the beach has been upgraded, paved with asphalt, and the sidewalks completed with a total cost of over 5 billion VND. The road was completed before the opening of the beach tourism season, enhancing the appearance of Thach Hai beach, making it more spacious and clean, and creating a good impression for tourists."
Restaurants have changed their advertising signs to conform to common standards regarding size and color; built a civilized and standardized business culture; and local people are friendly and hospitable… In particular, the Ha Tinh Urban Construction and Environment Joint Stock Company has put into operation a beach waste screening machine, helping the locality collect and process waste effectively, and also conveying the message about raising awareness of beach environmental protection to all residents and tourists.”

Thach Hai Beach currently has two bathing areas, 20 seafood restaurants, and the Quynh Vien Resort. Most of the seafood restaurant owners are locals; therefore, from the simple decor to the food preparation, the restaurants retain the rustic, friendly characteristics typical of the coastal region.
Most importantly, the food is fresh, with seafood supplied directly from fishermen's boats and consumed on the same day, ensuring the preservation of its natural sweetness. This year, some restaurants have also quickly adapted to the new culinary tastes of customers, investing in tanks to keep live squid and lobsters, which are very popular with tourists.

Mr. Truong Quoc Nhat, owner of Nhat Hanh restaurant (Beach A), said: “I am a local resident, so I understand and love my hometown's sea. Instead of chasing after chaotic, competitive business practices, we focus on the quality of our food sources and cooking methods that preserve the natural sweetness of the dishes as much as possible. The decor is green and refreshing, without excessive interference that would detract from the rustic beauty of the beach. Currently, 100% of the squid, crab, and shrimp I source come from local fishermen's boats daily, with deliveries 2-3 times a day to ensure freshness for early morning and late evening beachgoers. Tourists can personally select seafood from temporary tanks and supervise the preparation and cooking process.”
According to estimates, since the start of the tourist season (April 27th), Thach Hai beach has welcomed approximately 20,000-30,000 visitors who came to swim and enjoy seafood. The number of tourists is trending upwards compared to previous years, with over 3,000 people visiting the beach on peak hot days. Visitors usually come to Thach Hai beach to swim in the early morning and late evening, not only to cool off from the summer heat but also because of its pristine scenery and fresh air, attracting tourists who want to immerse themselves in nature.

To capitalize on the unique advantages of Thach Hai beach, the local government is reorganizing and streamlining its management process in a more systematic and thorough manner. The commune continues to maintain an environmental sanitation team, collecting waste and cleaning beach areas daily to preserve the landscape and environment; a sea rescue team ensures the safety of tourists. Organizations, local people, and businesses regularly participate in cleaning the beach and business areas; limiting the use of single-use plastics and encouraging "tourism without a trace"; and strengthening food safety and price inspections at restaurants. This year, the commune will also introduce a free public parking and shower area to attract more tourists to Thach Hai.
In the longer term, the local government and people of Thach Hai commune hope that the Government and central ministries and agencies will soon find a solution to the Thach Khe iron mine issue. This will allow the commune to orient itself towards developing more community tourism models, homestays, and ecotourism to increase the number of tourists staying overnight and contribute to the growth of tourism in the locality.
