Heading to the land of sweet fruits, Dong Thap

From June 5th to 8th, the first Fruit Festival, themed "Land of Sweet Fruits," will take place at Hung Vuong Square, Dao Thanh Ward, Dong Thap Province.

Provincial - level fruit festival

The opening night program of the festival, taking place at Hung Vuong Square, Dao Thanh Ward on the evening of June 5-6, is elaborately produced and deeply rooted in the unique culture of Dong Thap's orchards, promising to leave a positive impression on both locals and tourists.

The festival features 9 main activities and 12 supporting activities, including competitions, workshops, and exhibitions showcasing delicious dishes made from Dong Thap fruits.

Notable activities include: a water and light show and artistic mapping projection program; an exhibition space showcasing the value chain of Dong Thap 's fruit industry; the "Charming Gardener " contest ; a workshop on " Farmer 4.0 and Raw Material Areas"; and a conference on developing value chains for the province 's key fruit products.

The trade fair and exhibition promotes fruits, fruit products, OCOP products, and specialty products of the Mekong Delta region.

Notably, on June 6th and 7th, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, there will be a water and light show and an artistic mapping projection program. " Listening to the River Tell Stories " is one of the highlights of the festival.

The water music performances will incorporate content introducing the land, people, culture, and distinctive agricultural products of Dong Thap, affirming Dong Thap's position as one of the key fruit-producing regions in the Mekong Delta.

Artistic water shows are a modern form of entertainment, designed as a modern multimedia performance model, combining water effects, RGB LED lighting, mist projection mapping, outdoor lasers, and synchronized music .

Recreating industry achievements

The festival space will comprehensively recreate the fruit industry's value chain through various themed exhibition areas.

This includes areas showcasing scientific and technological achievements in production and processing, agricultural machinery and equipment, and farming tools; an area displaying characteristic plant seedlings; an area displaying agricultural supplies; an area of key fruit orchards; an area displaying processed fruit products; an area displaying information on fruit export businesses; and an exhibition and introduction of high-value fruits from Dong Thap.

Many of the province's specialty and key fruits, such as mangoes, durians, rambutans, plums, jackfruits, longans, star apples, pomelos, and dragon fruits, will be introduced to locals and tourists.

Notably, there is an activity called "Attaching Age to Trees and Fruits" with the theme: "The Life of a Tree - The Life of a Person," aiming to honor orchard owners with many years old fruit trees. The activity will showcase a list of fruit trees that are 20 years old or older in the province.

Enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products in Dong Thap .

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, the province currently has nearly 135,000 hectares of fruit trees, with an annual production of 2.48 million tons. The main crops include durian, mango, jackfruit, dragon fruit, longan, and pomelo. In the first four months of 2026 alone, fruit production reached nearly 736,000 tons. 1,329 fruit-growing area codes, equivalent to 55,000 hectares, have been granted.

Mr. Le Ha Luan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, said: "We expect the Dong Thap Fruit Festival to not only be a promotional event, but also to become the starting point for a new phase of development for the fruit industry where quality, branding, traceability, and value chain linkages become the foundation for the long-term competitiveness of Dong Thap agricultural products."
