Ho Chi Minh City is facing the challenge of finding new growth drivers as the whole country aims for double-digit growth.
In the tourism sector, despite a continuous increase in visitor numbers, Ho Chi Minh City still faces many bottlenecks such as a lack of groundbreaking products, fragmented experiences, and tourist spending and length of stay not commensurate with its potential.
In the city's new development strategy, Can Gio is identified as a strategically located area with rich potential to form a new growth pole for Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the fields of tourism, services, and marine economy .
To better analyze the role, potential, and development direction of this area, the seminar "CAN GIO - A NEW GROWTH POLE OF HO CHI MINH CITY" will take place at 8:00 AM on May 12, 2026, at Landmark 81, Vinhomes Central Park, 772 Dien Bien Phu Street , Thanh My Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
The workshop focused on identifying current bottlenecks in Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry; analyzing the role of Can Gio as a complementary "piece" to the city's tourism ecosystem; and comparing it with successful destination development models worldwide to propose appropriate development directions and solutions.
In addition to thematic presentations, the workshop also included a panel discussion with the participation of experts, managers, associations, and the business community to discuss solutions, mechanisms, and policies necessary for Can Gio to develop into a large-scale destination capable of welcoming approximately 40 million visitors annually, thereby contributing to the economic growth of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country in the new period.
