Established in April 2021, the Institute of Applied Psychological and Educational Sciences focuses on research and the transfer of psychological solutions into real-life situations. With a scientific council and a professional staff of 81 members, the institute has implemented 10 research projects and signed 12 scientific and technological service contracts. Notably, the Institute has focused on building a theoretical and practical foundation through the compilation of a handbook for operating school psychological counseling rooms, the development of a mental health screening test toolkit, and the organization of national-level scientific conferences on digital transformation in psychological counseling.
Building upon research, clinical psychology practice and school support services are directly implemented in educational institutions. According to the summary report, the Institute conducted mental health screenings for 12,655 students in 28 schools to detect early psychological risks. The affiliated counseling centers also received and processed 7,862 intervention sessions for 4,625 specific cases. Simultaneously, training and professional development in school counseling for 212 administrators and teachers in various localities is regularly conducted to address the shortage of personnel at the grassroots level.

At the meeting, the Director of the Institute of Applied Psychological and Educational Sciences, Pham Van Giao, presented the operational direction and vision until 2036. Leaders of the Vietnam Association of Psychological and Educational Sciences acknowledged the practical models being implemented, while also frankly pointing out areas for improvement, such as: standardizing the young staff and requiring the Institute to adhere more closely to rigorous scientific standards in psychological assessment and intervention.

To allocate resources and meet practical needs, the Institute announced the establishment of its Hanoi Branch. This branch in the capital city is tasked with directly implementing research, independent evaluation, and providing clinical psychological intervention services in the northern region. The Hanoi Branch is envisioned as a hub connecting intellectuals and experts in the field, thereby promoting the widespread application of scientific psychological and educational solutions in schools and society.
