Vietnam shares its development achievements and promotes cooperation with Bangladesh.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh is constantly being strengthened and developed vigorously.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in South Asia, on December 22, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Dhaka, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Nguyen Manh Cuong, chaired a year-end meeting and exchange with local press and media.

Attending the event were the Chairman of the Bangladesh Diplomatic Journalists Association (DCAB) and representatives from local news agencies and media outlets such as the Bangladesh News Agency (BSS), UNB, Independent Television, ATN News, Bangladesh Post, Dhaka Bangla Channel, Business In Bangladesh, Aviation Express, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong said that 2025 marks many important milestones in the country's construction and development as the entire Vietnamese nation celebrates the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd...

According to the Ambassador, despite facing significant challenges from the global and regional situation, Vietnam still achieved many outstanding accomplishments in 2025. Under the decisive leadership of the Party and State leaders, Vietnam completed the streamlining of its administrative apparatus with a two-tiered local government model, reorganized provinces and cities, and restructured the government apparatus. Economically , Vietnam continued to maintain rapid and sustainable growth.

GDP is projected to grow by over 8% in 2025, reaching a size of $510 billion, placing Vietnam 32nd in the world. Foreign direct investment (FDI) is expected to continue increasing, reaching $185 billion in the 2021-2025 period, placing Vietnam among the top 15 developing countries attracting the most FDI globally.

Tourism continues to be a bright spot in Vietnam's economic structure, with over 20 million international tourists expected to visit Vietnam in 2025.

Based on the continued implementation of an independent, self-reliant, multilateral, diversified foreign policy, proactive and active international integration, and the "four no's" defense policy, Vietnam achieved many outstanding accomplishments in 2025.

To date, Vietnam has officially established diplomatic relations with 195 countries and comprehensive or broader partnership frameworks with 40 countries, including comprehensive strategic partnerships with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

In addition, Vietnam has signed and implemented 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with more than 60 partners, demonstrating its commitment to trade liberalization, fair competition, and sustainable development.

Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh is constantly being strengthened and developed vigorously.

Economic and trade cooperation continues to be a highlight in the overall relationship between the two countries, with total bilateral trade consistently exceeding $1 billion for many years.

Both sides are actively reviewing the draft Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), the mutual recognition mechanism for Halal certification, and accelerating the signing of a new agreement on air transport cooperation, creating an important basis for establishing direct flights as early as 2026.

The ambassador expressed confidence that the cooperative relationship between the two countries would become increasingly strong, bringing many practical benefits to the people of both countries.

During the meeting, AKM Moinuddin, President of the Bangladesh Diplomatic Journalists Association, expressed his respect and special affection for the country and people of Vietnam.

According to him, the two countries share many similarities in their history of national liberation struggles and have remained close friends to this day, supporting each other in the process of national construction and development.

Representatives from local news agencies and media outlets expressed admiration for Vietnam's tremendous socio-economic and foreign policy achievements in recent years, and hoped that a direct flight connecting the capitals of the two countries would be implemented soon. They also hoped to have the opportunity to visit Vietnam to directly learn about and experience Vietnamese culture and life.

Local news agencies and media outlets affirmed their appreciation for the good cooperative relationship with the Embassy and their readiness to accompany and support the Embassy in publishing articles about Vietnam, and to directly cover important diplomatic programs and events of the Embassy in the future.
