Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will visit China from June 24-27 to participate in the 2024 Dalian World Economic Forum (WEF) themed "New Horizons of Growth" and other activities in China.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh answered questions from the press regarding Vietnam's message at the WEF Dalian 2024.
WEF and China value Vietnam's position.
According to Mr. Binh, the conference, the second largest after the WEF Davos Conference with the participation of 1,600 delegates, was organized with the spirit of being a place to gather and create new ideas, new fields, and pioneering, innovative models that will shape the future of the economy.
Sharing information about the Vietnamese delegation's activities, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is one of the few heads of government invited by the WEF and host country China to attend the conference for two consecutive years.
"This demonstrates that the WEF and China attach great importance to Vietnam's position, role, and contributions to global economic growth, as well as Vietnam's development vision for the future of its economy," Mr. Binh emphasized.
With that in mind, Deputy Minister Binh stated that the Prime Minister's working visit was of great significance with many highlights.
First and foremost, the conference is an opportunity for Vietnam to grasp and contribute its voice on new trends and drivers of global economic growth, and to exchange ideas on development and governance at the national and global levels.
This is also an opportunity to promote our country's economic and social growth and development achievements, conveying a strong message about Vietnam as a dynamic, innovative country and an attractive destination for global corporations.
At this conference, Vietnam will have the opportunity to strengthen exchanges, promote relations with countries and international partners and organizations, affirm our role and position in the international community, and contribute to the effective implementation of the foreign policy guidelines of the 13th Party Congress.
One of the highlights of the conference is that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will deliver a special speech at the opening plenary session alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang and leaders from other countries.
Vietnam's contribution
According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh, the Prime Minister will also speak at discussion sessions and chair dialogues and seminars with the business community specifically for Vietnam.
"Given Vietnam's growth and development achievements, I believe that the participation of the Vietnamese delegation, especially Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, will make a very important contribution to the overall success of the conference," Mr. Binh said.
Providing further information on this topic, the Deputy Minister stated that in his speeches and presentations, the Prime Minister will offer assessments, observations, and perspectives from Vietnam on the global economy, including prospects, opportunities, challenges, and the major global transformations currently underway, impacting global economic development in the short and long term.
At the same time, the head of government will discuss and propose solutions to maximize the potential and strengths of the Asia-Pacific region, including the role of major economies in the region such as China.
In particular, we will demonstrate Vietnam's responsible contribution, emphasizing the role of the private sector and public-private partnerships in promoting growth, especially new growth drivers.
At the same time, the Prime Minister will also convey a message about Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, sharing the vision, policies, development directions, and macroeconomic management experience of the Vietnamese Party and Government.
Based on that, the head of the Vietnamese government will call for cooperation and synergy from the WEF and its partners, especially in high-priority, emerging sectors, and industries of the future with spillover effects such as artificial intelligence (AI), science and technology, and innovation...
Promoting Vietnam-China cooperation
During the conference, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with senior Chinese leaders.
Set against the backdrop of both sides having agreed to elevate their comprehensive strategic partnership and build a community of shared future, Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh stated that these activities will be extremely important in strengthening political trust and concretizing the common understanding and high-level agreements between the two sides. This will contribute positively to the already thriving relationship between the two countries.
