According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in July 2023, the whole country imported 334,021 tons of wheat, equivalent to 111.13 million USD, with an average price of 332.7 USD/ton, a decrease of 25.3% in volume and 26% in value compared to June 2023, and a 1% decrease in price. Compared to July 2022, there was also a decrease of 2% in volume, 21% in value, and 19.6% in price.

Overall, in the first seven months of 2023, the country's wheat imports reached over 2.81 million tons, equivalent to over 1 million USD, an increase of 8.7% in volume and 2.9% in value compared to the first seven months of 2022. The average price was 356.4 USD/ton, a decrease of 5.4%.
In July 2023, wheat imports from the main market, Australia, decreased by over 21% in both volume and value compared to June 2023. Prices also fell by 0.3%, reaching 328,899 tons, equivalent to US$109.03 million, at a price of US$331.5/ton. Compared to July 2022, there was an 8.7% increase in volume, but a 12.3% decrease in value and a 19.4% decrease in price.
Overall, in the first seven months of 2023, wheat imports from Australia accounted for 75.5% of the total volume and 73.5% of the total value of wheat imports nationwide, reaching nearly 2.13 million tons, equivalent to 737.04 million USD, with an average price of 346.8 USD/ton, an increase of 17.4% in volume, an increase of 7.2% in value, but a decrease of 8.7% in price compared to the first seven months of 2022.
Following the main market of Australia, the Brazilian market accounts for nearly 9.3% of the total volume and 9.6% of the total value, reaching 261,611 tons, equivalent to 95.82 million USD, with an average price of 366.3 USD/ton, a decrease of 19% in volume, a decrease of 14.9% in value but an increase of 5% in price compared to the first seven months of 2022.
Next, the US market reached 172,245 tons, equivalent to $70.51 million, at a price of $409.4/ton, a sharp increase of 35.5% in volume and 21.5% in value, but a decrease of 10.4% in price compared to the first seven months of 2022, accounting for 6% of the total volume and 7% of the total value of wheat imports nationwide.
Wheat imports from Canada reached 165,986 tons, equivalent to $68.91 million, a sharp increase of 3,000% in volume and 2,603% in value compared to the first seven months of 2022.
