Vietnam is ready to provide maximum support to Laos.

On the afternoon of May 12th, General Secretary and President To Lam received the high-level delegation from Vientiane, the capital of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, led by Mr. Athsaphangthong Siphandone, Central Committee member, Secretary of the Vientiane City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Vientiane City People's Council, who is on a visit and working trip to Vietnam.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the visit, which took place after the two Parties and two countries successfully organized many important political events such as the Congresses of each Party, the elections of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels for the new term, and the completion of the consolidation of leadership positions from the central to local levels.

General Secretary and President To Lam extended warm greetings to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Speaker of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane, and others, congratulating them on the great achievements of the Party Committee, government, and people of Vientiane in recent times. He also affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State, as always, give the highest priority to the great and unique friendship between Vietnam and Laos, strongly support Laos's reform and international integration, and are ready to provide maximum support to the Lao Party, State, and people, sharing experiences to overcome difficulties and challenges together. He wished the delegation a successful working visit.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that cooperation between localities, especially between Hanoi and Vientiane, plays a very important role as pioneering and leading forces in effectively implementing the Party's foreign policy, connecting politics with development; and strategy with concrete action. In the context of complex and unpredictable developments in the world and the region, and especially with 2026 marking the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between the two countries, General Secretary and President To Lam stressed the requirement for both countries to elevate cooperation towards a substantive, effective, and sustainable level, closely linking political cooperation with socio-economic development, and strengthening the bond between the people of the two countries and their capitals.

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed confidence that, with a solid foundation and strong political determination, the Hanoi-Vientiane relationship will continue to develop strongly, making practical contributions to the development of each locality, while further deepening the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
