(HNMO) - On June 6, the third official competition day of the 6th ASEAN Para Games, Vietnamese athletes competed in swimming, weightlifting, athletics, and boccia. Athletes competed to bring home 12 more Gold Medals (HCVs).
On this competition day, the Vietnam Disabled People's Sports Union won 8 more gold medals in athletics, weightlifting and swimming. Specifically, in athletics, athlete Vo Van Tung excellently brought home the gold medal in the men's weightlifting event of the F34 invalid class with a record of 7,3 meters. Meanwhile, his teammate Truong Bich Van also finished first in the women's weightlifting event in the F56 category, with a record of 6,49 meters. In the event of the F56 javelin throw, athlete Trinh Cong Luan achieved a feat of 24,49 meters. His parameters are 5 meters higher than the runner-up. At the end of the competition day, the Vietnamese track and field team won two more gold medals thanks to the contributions of athletes Nguyen Ngoc Hiep (men's 2m event, T400 injury class) and athlete Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh (men's 11m event, T400 injury class).
On the same day of the competition, the weightlifting team won 2 more gold medals thanks to the merit of Nguyen Van Hung. In the men's 72kg weight category, runner-up Nguyen Van Hung had an impressive performance when he succeeded in all 3 registered weights, 150kg, 153kg and 155kg respectively, surpassing two strong opponents of Thailand and Myanmar to take the No. 2 position. Accordingly, Nguyen Van Hung won a double gold medal with the best achievement of 1kg and the overall result of 155kg. Thus, Nguyen Van Hung equalized his achievements with teammates Le Van Cong, Nguyen Binh An, Dang Thi Linh Phuong and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan, and brought home the 458th and 9th gold medals for Vietnamese disabled weightlifters.
As for swimming, the women's 200m medley medley swimming event S6-SB5, athlete Trinh Thi Bich Nhu excellently brought the Vietnamese team another gold medal with a record of 3 minutes 38 seconds 86. The silver medalist in this content was Siti Alfiah (Indonesia); Bronze medal in this content also belongs to Indonesian athlete Amanda Nur Safitri.
Thus, as of 20:30 p.m. on June 6, the Vietnam Disabled People's Sports Delegation won 6 gold medals, 36 silver medals and 35 bronze medals, temporarily ranked third. The Indonesian disabled sports delegation is still leading the standings with 53 gold, 91 silver and 80 bronze medals. The Thai sports delegation is second with 53 gold medals, 71 silver medals and 66 bronze medals.
