To do business in a way that leaves no one behind.
Returning from the war, many of them simply started from farms, cultivating crops and raising livestock; some became business directors or cooperative leaders. Each successful economic model provided employment for a group of former comrades, and allowed young people, the children of their fallen comrades, to learn trades and receive support. These soldiers silently transformed into "guides," passing on their skills and life experience, not just through words, but through concrete actions, responsibility, and love.
As someone deeply committed to building a circular economy model from waste, for many years, the Thanh Binh Transport and Environmental Services Cooperative, led by Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoach and other veterans from Hamlet 7, Luong Vuong Commune ( Tuyen Quang City), has created jobs for hundreds of workers, especially the children of comrades and even those who have made mistakes, providing them with stable employment and income, enabling them to reintegrate into the community. In 2024, the cooperative's revenue from waste recycling and transport business reached over 13 billion VND, contributing nearly 1 billion VND to the state budget and creating jobs for over 120 workers with incomes ranging from 6 to 8.5 million VND per person per month.

Beyond economic development, Mr. Hoach actively supports the community, participating in charitable activities and promoting environmental protection. For his significant contributions, he was awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal, the title of "Outstanding Citizen of Tuyen Quang Province," and was one of the 100 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2022. He is a shining example of a veteran's unwavering dedication to society, contributing to building a clean, green, and beautiful homeland for sustainable development.
In Vinh Loc town, Chiem Hoa district, former Youth Volunteer Corps member Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Association of Former Youth Volunteer Corps members of Chiem Hoa district, has expanded his family's woodworking workshop, creating handcrafted items from driftwood. Notably, he prioritizes vocational training for children from families receiving preferential treatment. Currently, he has trained and provided employment for 5 workers, with an average income of 6-8 million VND per person per month.
One of the people Mr. Vinh helped was Mr. Tran Van Dien, from Doan Ket village, Trung Hoa commune (Chiem Hoa district), the son of former Youth Volunteer Corps member Tran Van Dao. Mr. Dien emotionally recounted: "For more than a decade, Mr. Vinh, a former Youth Volunteer Corps member of my father, hired me to work at his family's driftwood workshop, with an average income of about 8 million VND per month. For me, the kindness he showed to my father and me is like a guiding light, helping me achieve the stable life I have today."
The unsung heroes in peacetime.
When the gunfire ceases, peace is something soldiers always cherish. But peace doesn't just come from the cessation of hostilities; it also comes from calming people's hearts. Returning soldiers, with the composure and insight forged on the battlefield, become silent "mediators" in their communities and neighborhoods.
In Tan Thinh residential area, Son Duong town, for many years, war invalid Pham Van Vuong, Party Secretary and Head of the Front Committee of the area, has been such a person. Wherever there are land disputes or minor conflicts, he is there, and his words are always listened to.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoach received the Cooperative Star Award in 2024.
Recently, after reviewing the criteria for building a civilized urban area, Tan Thinh residential group still had some criteria that had not been met, such as roads and internal field roads. He proposed to the Party branch to mobilize the people to contribute 52,000,000 VND, and with the support of cement from the province, Tan Thinh group was able to build 300 meters of internal field road and 200 meters of internal road within the group.
To date, 100% of the roads have been concreted, facilitating the daily lives and production activities of the people. Security and order have been maintained, with 12 out of 12 successful mediations, making a significant contribution to preserving national unity, developing socio-economic conditions, maintaining political security, and building the grassroots political system.
Returning to civilian life, veterans and former Youth Volunteers continue to uphold revolutionary traditions and promote activities demonstrating camaraderie and mutual support. They are not only the past, but also the present and the future. They live, work, and continue to serve the country in their own unique way—persistently, quietly, and with great kindness. Alongside this, members have actively participated in educating the younger generation about patriotic and revolutionary traditions, contributing to the building of the Party and the political system, and creating a peaceful and happy life. They will forever be a source of pride, a shining flame of tradition, inspiring today's youth to learn from and emulate them.
