Accordingly, units are required to thoroughly understand the Party's policies on the development of Vietnamese culture and people; and at the same time affirm the role of books and reading culture in enhancing knowledge and professional capacity for cadres, workers, officers, and crew members.

The VIMC Party Committee identified this as an important political task, linked to the implementation of the Party's 14th National Congress Resolution and the Politburo's Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW, while also serving to build corporate culture, promote digital transformation, and ensure sustainable development.

Party committees at all levels are required to include the development of reading culture in their annual work plans; the head of each organization is directly responsible for the results. Mass organizations should intensify propaganda efforts to create a widespread impact throughout the entire corporation.

The focus of implementation includes developing a reading movement linked to professional development; building and utilizing libraries, book collections, and digital libraries; applying technology and sharing materials on digital platforms; organizing activities such as book introductions, seminars, and knowledge contests; and linking these to emulation movements and innovation.

Units are also required to strengthen internal communication and promptly commend effective models and practices in developing a reading culture.

The Significance of Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day

Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21st) holds profound significance in affirming the crucial role of books as an inexhaustible treasure trove of knowledge and the foundation of human civilization. It is an occasion to honor cultural values, celebrate those involved in writing and publishing, and strongly promote the reading movement within the community. Through this, the day contributes to building self-learning habits, raising intellectual standards, and forming a sustainable learning society rich in national identity.

Raising awareness about the importance of books and reading culture.

Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day aims to raise community awareness of the importance of books and reading culture. Books are an inexhaustible treasure trove of knowledge, a valuable resource for the development of each individual and society. Reading helps people broaden their horizons, cultivate knowledge, hone their thinking skills, and perfect their character. Building a reading culture contributes to building an advanced culture with a strong national identity.

Encourage people to read books.

This day aims to encourage everyone, especially the younger generation, to develop a reading habit. Reading should be cultivated from a young age, while still in school, to develop critical thinking skills. Every family should build a bookshelf and encourage their children to read every day. Schools should organize reading promotion activities and create a friendly and engaging reading environment for students. Agencies and organizations should also create opportunities for their staff to read, contributing to the improvement of their professional skills and expertise.

Developing the reading movement

Promoting the reading movement contributes to building a learning society. A learning society is one where everyone is conscious of lifelong learning, learning to serve their work, their lives, and their personal development. Reading is one of the important paths to building such a civilized and progressive society.

Celebrating the value of books.

Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day is also an occasion to honor the value of books, while affirming the role, position, and importance of books in life. Books are indispensable teachers and companions in everyone's life. They are also an endless source of knowledge and a treasure trove of human culture. Reading helps people broaden their horizons, nurture their souls, and perfect their character.

Furthermore, choosing April 21st is symbolic because it coincides closely with World Book and Copyright Day (April 23rd). This demonstrates Vietnam's integration with global reading culture and creates a series of vibrant cultural activities throughout April.
