This morning's trading session saw the domestic stock market open with a slight increase, driven by positive developments in the food sector. However, the gains were short-lived; from around 10:30 AM, strong selling pressure pushed the index back to its reference level and subsequently declined.
At the close of morning trading, the VN-Index fell 3.27 points to 1,264.46 points.
In the afternoon session, increased selling pressure caused the VN-Index to drop nearly 15 points at one point, falling below 1,255 points. At market close, the VN-Index stood at 1,255.23 points, down 12.5 points (-0.99%); the VN30-Index fell 13.09 points (-1%), to 1,294.06 points.
Red dominated the electronic trading board, with 320 stocks falling and only 94 rising. Within the VN30 group, the number of gainers and losers was 5 and 24 respectively.

Widespread selling pressure caused most sectors to decline. Pharmaceuticals and biotechnology were the only sectors showing gains. Hardware and semiconductors remained unchanged. Among the declining sectors, software, credit institutions, materials, real estate, healthcare, financial services, food and essential retail, insurance, specialty services and trade, and media and entertainment fell by more than 1%.
The strongest impact on the market's decline in this session came from bank stocks, with VCB, BID, and SSB deducting 1.62 points, 0.76 points, and 0.72 points respectively. Conversely, VJC, TPB, MWG, LPB, BMP, etc., provided slight support to the market.
Liquidity increased sharply compared to the previous session, reaching over 15,500 billion VND. Foreign investors were net sellers, buying nearly 1,410 billion VND and selling over 1,795 billion VND. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the total trading value reached nearly 1,100 billion VND.
At the close of trading, the HNX-Index stood at 231.69 points after falling 1.77 points (-0.76%); the HNX30-Index decreased by 5.7 points (-1.12%), to 502.14 points.
