Every year in May and June, fishermen in Phu Yen, especially in the Hon Yen area and An Hai fishing village, are busy casting their nets in the vast fishing grounds to catch anchovies. When they spot a school of fish, the fishermen use nets to encircle and catch them. Throughout the fishing process, from start to finish, the shape of the nets constantly changes. From a drone's perspective, the green nets on the sea resemble blooming flowers in countless beautiful shapes. This is why it attracts many photographers and tourists to
explore and experience it.

And for author Nguyen Thi Bich Huong, those experiences gave birth to the photo series "Dance of Setting Sail." The photos were taken in
Phu Yen and were submitted to
the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by
the Ministry of Information and Communications .

For fishermen, casting their nets to catch anchovies is a moment of immense hope for a bountiful haul. In recent years, however, each cast of the nets has also carried the eager anticipation of photographers and photography enthusiasts from all over the country. They come here to stay and sleep with the fishermen, hoping to witness and capture the most vivid, meaningful, and beautiful moments of the nets on the vast ocean. Especially when observed from above, the green nets, made of rough nylon threads when on land, become soft and undulating like silk ribbons when the fishermen cast them out into the sea. The entire fishing ground is like an art stage with a variety of beautiful shapes and colors, and the fishermen are the dancers, performing skillfully with their nets cast and retrieved with great artistry. Anchovies live at depths of 30-40 meters. Fishermen use seine nets to catch them not too far from the shore, from 500 to 3,000 meters. In 2024,
the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest will continue to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website.
