The Dance of the Sea

Every year in May and June, Phu Yen fishermen, especially in Hon Yen area and An Hai fishing village, are busy casting nets on the vast fishing grounds to catch anchovies. When a school of fish is discovered, fishermen use nets to surround and catch fish. During the fishing process from start to finish, the shape of the net is always changing. From the angle of the flycam, the green nets on the sea look like colorful flowers with a myriad of different shapes, extremely beautiful. That is the reason why it attracts many photographers and tourists to explore and experience. And for author Nguyen Thi Bich Huong, those experiences have given birth to the photo collection "Dance of Going Out to Sea". The photo collection was taken in Phu Yen and was also submitted by the author to the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam", organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

For fishermen, the times of casting nets to catch anchovies are a time to send many hopes for the nets heavy with fish. In recent years, each time the fishermen cast their nets also carries with it the eager anticipation of photographers and photography enthusiasts from all over the country. They come here to stay up and sleep with the fishermen, hoping to see and capture the most vivid, meaningful and beautiful moments of the nets on the vast ocean. In particular, when observed from above, the blue nets made of rough, stiff fishing lines on land become soft, winding like silk strips when thrown by fishermen on the sea. The entire fishing ground is like an art stage with all kinds of beautiful shapes and surprisingly beautiful colors, and the fishermen are the dancers who perform skillfully with the nets thrown and caught very skillfully. Anchovies live at a depth of 30 - 40 m, fishermen use nets to catch fish not too far from the shore, from 500 to 3,000 meters. In 2024, the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" will continue to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website   https://happy.vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive information products, making practical contributions to the propaganda and promotion of a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world. Thereby helping people in the country, compatriots abroad and international friends access authentic images of the country, Vietnamese people, Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights, towards a happy Vietnam.

Each contest category (photo and video) has the following prizes and prize values: - 01 Gold Medal: 70,000,000 VND - 02 Silver Medals: 20,000,000 VND - 03 Bronze Medals: 10,000,000 VND - 10 Encouragement Prizes: 5,000,000 VND - 01 most voted work: 5,000,000 VND The winning authors will be invited by the Organizing Committee to attend the Announcement and Award Ceremony and Certificate on live television of Vietnam Television.
