BAC GIANG - To make the once-in-a-lifetime celebration even more complete and meaningful, in recent times, in many localities throughout the province, youth union branches at all levels have mobilized people to implement the "Traffic Safety Wedding" model.

The wedding was held simply and warmly at the community center, with the joyful participation of relatives, neighbors, and close friends. Tan Yen is one of the exemplary localities in the province implementing the "Safe Wedding" model. Nguyen Bien Thuy, Secretary of the Tan Yen District Youth Union, said: "Understanding the needs of young people in organizing weddings, the grassroots Youth Union is responsible for coordinating with local authorities and organizations to help families organize weddings. In addition, Youth Union members are assigned to guard vehicles and direct traffic in the wedding area. To raise public awareness of traffic safety, banners and messages about complying with the Road Traffic Law are placed at the entrance to the wedding venue."
In addition, the youth union took advantage of the opportunity to integrate traffic safety awareness into the wedding's entertainment program. The wedding procession was not overly large, and those using motorcycles were required to wear helmets. Recognizing the significance of this model, many families agreed and responded positively. In 2022, nearly 100 weddings in the entire district were organized according to this model.

According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the traffic safety situation in the province has recently become more complex. In particular, the majority of serious accidents involve people aged 18-40.
For example, in Viet Yen district, there is a problem of young people driving without helmets or license plates; driving at high speeds, swerving, weaving, and revving their engines... In response to this situation, the district police have intensified patrols and enforcement. Demonstrating a proactive spirit, the Viet Yen District Youth Union has actively implemented traffic safety awareness campaigns, including promoting the "Traffic Safety Wedding" model.
According to Mr. Tran Van Binh, Secretary of the District Youth Union, since August 2023, all commune, town, and affiliated youth unions have organized at least one wedding according to the criteria of "Safety, economy, and good compliance with traffic safety laws." In particular, young people are encouraged to hold weddings at village cultural centers; not to erect wedding tents that encroach on the road; to assign people to manage parking and traffic; and not to misuse weddings for excessive drinking.
In Bac Giang City, dozens of young volunteers organize safe, civilized, and economical weddings each year. Typical examples include the wards of Tran Nguyen Han, Tho Xuong, and Hoang Van Thu… This activity both inherits the beautiful cultural traditions and customs of the nation and aligns with new trends, ensuring compliance with civilized lifestyles. The incidence of drunkenness at weddings has decreased, and the wearing of helmets when transporting the bride and groom is strictly adhered to.
In Bac Giang, the "Traffic Safety Wedding" model has been implemented for many years and has received active support from youth union members. This is a large force that contributes significantly to promoting a civilized lifestyle.
In the coming period, the Provincial Youth Union will continue to direct and promote the implementation of the "Safe Wedding" model in localities; and direct youth unions at all levels to disseminate to their members the regulations of the Provincial People's Committee on practicing civilized lifestyles in weddings. Youth union branches will encourage their members to commit to limiting the use of alcohol at weddings; not inviting too many guests; and ensuring that those transporting the bride and groom by motorbike wear helmets and strictly comply with the Road Traffic Law.
