At the beginning of the year, the Provincial Farmers' Association issued Plan No. 02-KH/HNDT dated January 13, 2026, on launching the emulation movement "Farmers excelling in production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" in 2026. The Association also issued Guidance No. 04-HD/HNDT dated February 10, 2026, on the establishment and operation of clubs for farmers excelling in production and business.
Mr. Nguyen Chuong Phat, Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial Farmers' Association, said that in implementing the directives of the Central Farmers' Association and the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association has issued many guiding documents to direct all levels of the association to disseminate and thoroughly understand Decision No. 181-QD/HNDTW dated February 20, 2024 and Decision No. 2103-QD/HNDTW dated November 3, 2025 of the Standing Committee of the Central Vietnam Farmers' Association on amending and supplementing regulations on recognizing the title of excellent farmer households in production and business at all levels.
Through effective guidance, the movement has spread widely. Mr. Khang A Sang, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Mu Cang Chai commune, said that despite facing many difficulties, the entire commune still has 910 households (accounting for 60% of the total number of producing households) registered to achieve the title of excellent producers and business operators at all levels.

To ensure the movement's substantial development, the various levels of the association have encouraged members to boldly transform the structure of crops and livestock towards increasing value and suitability to local soil and climate. This activity is integrated with the transfer of scientific and technical knowledge, capital support, vocational training, and the development of collective economic models.
During the quarter, 20 new professional farmers' associations and 4 professional branches were established, bringing the total number of associations and groups in the entire Association to 707 and 170 professional branches. At the same time, 120 training courses were organized for over 12,000 farmers on techniques in crop cultivation, livestock farming, cold-water fish farming, mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing, value chain production, and biosafety.
Regarding preferential capital sources, the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund has appraised and disbursed funds for 11 projects totaling 9.46 billion VND. This activity increased the outstanding loan balance to 84.131 billion VND across 166 projects for 1,238 borrowing households. Simultaneously, entrusted programs with the Social Policy Bank and credit guarantees with Agribank have achieved outstanding loan balances of thousands of billions of VND, serving tens of thousands of borrowing households.

The associations at all levels have also effectively played their role as a bridge, coordinating with businesses to supply over 1,000 tons of fertilizers and other quality equipment and materials at stable prices for farmers, while also supporting product promotion.
Thanks to this, the province's agricultural and forestry production has been maintained and grown steadily. In the first quarter, the total area of rice cultivation in the province reached over 15,000 hectares; the total number of main livestock reached over 1.42 million; and the total number of poultry reached approximately 12.19 million. The province also planted more than 6,300 hectares of concentrated forest (reaching nearly 46% of the annual plan), enclosed and nurtured over 1,300 hectares for natural regeneration, and effectively protected nearly 493,000 hectares of forest.
Along with economic development, farmer association members have contributed over 18,400 man-days to repairing 306 km of canals, 211 km of roads, and 26 bridges and culverts, while also donating 31,390 m² of land to upgrade and expand roads and social infrastructure.

Farmers' association members actively contribute their efforts to building rural infrastructure.
Mr. Nguyen The Truong, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Bao Thang commune, said that many new and innovative models have emerged in the commune, such as growing royal bananas and raising free-range chickens. A prime example is the farm of Mr. Nguyen Vu Toan in Co Hai village, Bao Thang commune, which raises nearly 60,000 breeding and commercial chickens. Thanks to the application of safe farming techniques, the model generates hundreds of millions of dong in profit annually, creating stable jobs for workers and promoting the local livestock industry.

Similarly to Bao Thang, in Lien Son commune, the Farmers' Association launched a competition in 100% of its branches right from the beginning of the year with a plan tailored to the specific needs of each village and hamlet. Mr. Ha Van Quang, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Lien Son commune, said that in 2026, the entire commune will have 1,150 households (accounting for 60% of the total number of households) registered to achieve the title of excellent producers and business operators at all levels.
From this movement, many effective economic models have emerged, helping to increase people's income. A prime example is the family of Mr. Lo Van Thai in A Ha village with their integrated livestock farming model, generating an income of over 300 million VND per year. Mr. Thai shared: "The movement has encouraged farmers to boost economic development and legitimately enrich themselves on their own land."

It can be affirmed that the movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has awakened national pride, self-reliance, and the aspiration to rise up among farmers in Lao Cai, contributing to building a more prosperous and happy homeland.
To encourage its members, the Provincial Farmers' Association has issued a plan to honor "Outstanding Farmers of Lao Cai," and will select and nominate exemplary individuals to participate in the selection process for the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer" in October. The Association will also conduct a five-year review of the movement's implementation from 2022 to 2027 to draw lessons learned, further spread the spirit of emulation, and affirm the leading role of farmers in building new rural areas.
Thanks to the hands, minds, and aspirations of over 220,672 members, the goal of building a green, harmonious, distinctive, and happy Lao Cai will be realized in the not-too-distant future.
