One of the issues that has attracted particular attention from the people of Hanoi and the whole country is the announcement of the Master Plan for Hanoi Capital City with a 100-year vision. Based on the rich heritage of the thousand-year-old capital city, the plan is a comprehensive blueprint, establishing long-term development directions and opening up entirely new development opportunities for the capital city within a 100-year timeframe.
The Hanoi Capital City Master Plan with a 100-year vision is an important concrete step in implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated March 17, 2026, of the Politburo on building and developing the Capital City in the new era and the 2026 Law on the Capital City. In this plan, the three strategic pillars of development affirm that Hanoi plays the role of a center for creating, leading, and shaping new development models and thinking; it is the nucleus, connecting center, and driving force for regional development and a growth pole for the entire country.
Faced with the very high demands of the new era, the Party Committee, government, and people of Hanoi deeply understand their pioneering responsibility in concretizing the strategic policies of the Party and State; innovating the growth model; and creating new drivers of development. In that sense, the announcement of the Hanoi Master Plan with a 100-year vision is not just the announcement of a plan, but also a message clearly demonstrating the city's political determination to put the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 18th Hanoi Party Congress into practice.
Above all, this reflects the unwavering spirit of the Party Committee, government, and people of Hanoi in implementing the directive of General Secretary and President To Lam: "Hanoi says it and does it, does it quickly, does it correctly, does it effectively, and does it to the end."
Another highlight of the conference was the heartfelt sharing from representatives of domestic and foreign businesses and investors, highlighting a common spirit: a consensus and high appreciation for the strategic vision of the Hanoi Party Committee and government; and a commitment to long-term partnership in realizing the goal of making the capital city a center of innovation, finance, technology, and sustainable development in the region.
The year 2026 holds special significance for Hanoi on its journey to becoming a global city. This historic milestone was marked by the Politburo's issuance of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW and the National Assembly's enactment of the Capital City Law in 2026, granting the city the authority and unique, superior mechanisms for development. A smooth political foundation and legal framework provide a solid basis for Hanoi to concretize the Hanoi Capital City Master Plan with a 100-year vision. This is also a firm step for Hanoi to make a worthy contribution alongside the nation into a new era of development – an era of national progress.
Politburo member and Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang affirmed: “Hanoi not only aspires to become a destination for investment capital but is also determined to become a hub of innovation and sustainable development values. This is the vision of a green, smart, livable capital city with high competitiveness and rich Vietnamese identity. With this determination, Hanoi will strive to transform today's commitments into concrete actions, specific projects, and tangible results so that the Master Plan for the Capital truly becomes a driving force for development, building confidence and ushering in a new phase of development for Hanoi.”
With its rich cultural and heroic traditions and strong aspirations for development, Hanoi is embarking on a new journey to reach new heights, aiming for a 100-year development vision.
