Windows 11 can be reinstalled from Windows Update

Previously, to reinstall the system, Microsoft provided a tool called Media Creation Tool, which provided the option to retain installed files, configurations, and applications. It was also a way to update the system without touching data, but this was often time-consuming and somewhat cumbersome. Now, Microsoft is testing a new way to do this with a feature called Fix problems with Windows Update that is expected to come to Windows 11 in the near future.

This feature has been shown in the beta channel for Windows Insider members, people can find it in the Settings > System > Recovery section of Windows 11. However, it is currently not available for use.

The description shows exactly how the option will allow users to "reinstall the current version of Windows (your apps, files, and settings will be preserved)." The official documentation announcing the new feature from July 2023 also makes it clear that this reinstallation of Windows only affects the operating system and will not affect the rest of the data and settings that the user has. Windows Central says the process takes 11 minutes, although this may vary depending on the PC's configuration, such as how many or how few storage units the computer uses.

The new feature is expected to roll out in February or March next year as part of the Windows 11 Moment 5 update and will certainly be a useful proposition for those who want to reinstall the operating system without affecting the rest of their installation.
