It is now possible to share a webcam across multiple applications on Windows 11.
Microsoft says this feature was developed to help users stream video to both sign language interpreters and audiences simultaneously. However, users will undoubtedly discover many other creative uses for it.
Additionally, the update also brings a feature called 'basic camera,' which helps fix issues when the webcam malfunctions. Microsoft also plans to add resolution and frame rate options for the camera in an upcoming build.
Previously, to use the webcam across multiple applications simultaneously, Windows 11 users had to rely on third-party virtual camera apps. Integrating this feature will simplify the user experience.
Although the reason Microsoft didn't add this feature sooner remains unclear, it's considered a worthwhile update for Windows 11.
