Thieu Trung Commune launches intergenerational self-help club

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On August 28, the Elderly Association of Village 1 Nguyet Lang and Village 4 Ho Dam, Thieu Trung Commune held a launching ceremony for the Intergenerational Self-Help Club. These are the first Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Thieu Trung Commune to be established since the implementation of the two-level local government.

Thieu Trung Commune launches intergenerational self-help club Representatives of the Provincial Association of the Elderly handed over capital to increase income to the Board of Directors of the Intergenerational Self-Help Club of Village 1 Nguyet Lang.

Thieu Trung commune was established on the basis of merging 5 communes including: Thieu Ly, Thieu Vien, Thieu Van, Thieu Trung and 8 villages of Thieu Do commune (old). At the ceremony, delegates heard the announcement of the decision to establish and approved the operating regulations of the intergenerational self-help club of village 1 Nguyet Lang and village 4 Ho Dam.

Accordingly, the intergenerational self-help club in Nguyet Lang village 1 consists of 55 members, including 8 poor households, near-poor households, and households with economic difficulties; the total operating budget of the club is 53 million VND. The self-help club in Ho Dam village 4 consists of 51 members, including 6 poor households, near-poor households, and households with economic difficulties; the total operating budget of the club is 51 million VND.

The club operates on the principle of volunteerism and self-management, with the participation and contribution of all members. Key activities include: increasing income, reducing poverty, health care, volunteering at home, self-help, community support, protecting rights, raising awareness and spiritual care through culture and art.

The Intergenerational Self-Help Club was established to improve the quality of life for the elderly, the poor and disadvantaged through income-generating activities, health care and other practical support. At the same time, the Club creates a cultural and sports playground to help the elderly live happily, healthily and usefully; access knowledge of health care, production techniques and promote their role in contributing to the community.

At the launching ceremony, representatives of the Provincial Elderly Association presented meaningful gifts to the elderly in the commune and allocated capital to increase income of 30 million VND/club.
