In the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, cashew nuts are the province's key product, with many producers receiving national-level 5-star OCOP certification. Many businesses investing in cashew processing and export aspire to build a national brand for Vietnam's cashew capital in the international market.

Building a national brand for Dong Nai cashew nuts.

To date, the province has 496 OCOP products. Among them, cashew nuts account for dozens of products that have received OCOP certification. Notably, the majority of Dong Nai province's 5-star national-level OCOP products are processed cashew nuts. It is expected that in the near future, Dong Nai province will continue to have many more cashew nut processed products achieve 5-star national-level OCOP certification.

Specifically, the Dong Nai OCOP Product Evaluation and Ranking Council for 2025 recently reviewed and approved an additional 15 OCOP products. These include 11 cashew nut-based processed products, with 6 products having the potential to receive a 5-star national-level OCOP rating.

Dong Nai province is stepping up trade promotion and marketing for its OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, including cashew nuts, its main product. Many OCOP producers have strongly applied technology to production and focused on developing e-commerce to build brands for their key local products.

The fact that many cashew products in the province have achieved the national 5-star OCOP certification has contributed to elevating the brand image of Dong Nai cashews. This is also evidence of the province's cashew industry's continuous transformation from raw production to refined processing, from a local product to a national brand.

During the recent OCOP product evaluation and ranking in Dong Nai, Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company in Binh Phuoc ward had 5 products and a set of cashew products that achieved 5-star OCOP potential. This further confirms that the company's products are already known in the domestic market. A representative from Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company stated that the company recently inaugurated and put into operation the Ba Tu Binh Phuoc Agricultural and Food Processing Plant in Dong Tam commune, with an investment of 6.5 million USD. This demonstrates the company's ability to master technology and self-manage production in the cashew industry. In the future, the plant will develop more deeply processed product lines, contributing to building a national brand for Dong Nai's cashew industry in the international market.

Expanding into the international market.

The participation and certification of cashew processing and exporting businesses in the province under the OCOP program have affirmed that the local product has successfully integrated into the national value chain. Each 5-star OCOP cashew product represents a success story of a local specialty successfully entering the global market.

A representative from Golden Cashew Nut Co., Ltd. (Phu Rieng commune, Dong Nai province) stated: "Our cashew nut products are currently exported to many demanding markets such as the United States, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The company has met the environmental hygiene standards of Vietnam as well as many countries around the world. Our aspiration is to build a cashew nut brand that is not only competitive in the domestic market but also reaches international levels."

Ms. To Thi Nga, Director of Nga Bien One-Member Import-Export Company Limited (Xuan Hoa commune, Dong Nai province), shared: "In recent times, the company has focused on investing in improving its cashew processing line, applying modern technology and automation according to a closed production process. Thanks to this, the company has reduced labor costs by about 50%, production speed has increased, and product quality has continuously improved. The company is focusing on diversifying its processed cashew products with the desire to introduce to domestic consumers cashew products that meet international quality standards. The company places great emphasis on building a brand for its products in both domestic and export markets. Many of the company's products have achieved the national 5-star OCOP certification, which is very significant in the goal of building a brand for Dong Nai's specialty cashews."

Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang affirmed: The province's OCOP product development program is being implemented in line with its goal of focusing on developing local advantageous products, linked with deep processing to increase added value. Dong Nai is currently the province with the largest cashew growing area in the country. In the future, cashew nuts will continue to be a key product, and Dong Nai province will focus on developing and maintaining its position as the cashew capital of the country, ranking among the top in the country for cashew nut exports.
