To promote consumption and enhance the value of Phuc Trach pomelo, a local specialty, on the morning of September 12th in Ha Tinh, the National Agricultural Extension Center, in coordination with the Ha Tinh Department of Agriculture and Environment, organized the Agricultural Extension @ Agriculture Forum with the theme: "Promoting trade and consumption of organically produced Phuc Trach pomelo".

The forum was attended by experts, purchasing and distribution businesses, cooperatives, production groups, and households growing Phuc Trach pomelos. According to the report, by 2025, the entire province will have over 4,300 hectares of pomelo orchards, with an estimated production of 40,000 tons; of which the area of pomelos within the geographical indication zone will reach 2,700 hectares, with an estimated production of 25,000 tons. The concentrated planting areas are in the communes of Phuc Trach, Huong Pho, Huong Do, Huong Binh, etc.; Phuc Trach pomelo variety accounts for 80% of the total variety structure.

Grapefruit growing areas have received training and technology transfer in intensive production processes (rational fertilizer use, integrated pest management, etc.); the application of the Phuc Trach supplementary pollination method has achieved a success rate of over 90%, increasing fruit set; and the use of fruit bagging technology has achieved a success rate of over 70% to improve product quality and appearance. Notably, nearly 15 hectares of grapefruit have now been certified organic and converted organic. Production facilities focus on strictly adhering to organic processes, avoiding the use of chemicals, contributing to soil improvement, and creating safe and high-quality agricultural products.

In recent years, some large-scale farms and orchards have gradually expanded into markets outside the province, such as Hanoi , Nghe An, and Da Nang. In addition, Phuc Trach pomelos are now available in supermarket chains like Vinmart, Vinmart+, BigC, and Co.opmart; some e-commerce platforms like Vo So and Sen Do; and online channels like Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok. However, consumption through these channels remains limited. The main reason is the fragmented nature of production and the lack of coordination in harvesting and distribution. Ensuring a supply that meets standards is challenging: unstable procurement volumes and inconsistent quality.

At the forum, delegates spent considerable time discussing and exchanging views on the current state of development of Phuc Trach pomelo; solutions for consumption, trade promotion, and market expansion both domestically and for export; and emphasized the role of cooperatives and cooperative groups in linking the supply chain, building brands, and enhancing product value.
The suggestions focused on establishing production groups and teams to form a closed-loop chain; promoting trade activities in domestic and export markets; applying biological measures to protect the environment; strengthening support for producers in completing and maintaining organic certifications; emphasizing the application of science and technology in production;... Through this, many avenues for cooperation and consumption linkages have opened up, contributing to affirming the Phuc Trach pomelo brand and enhancing the product's competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Within the framework of the forum, leaders from the National Agricultural Extension Center and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh province awarded organic certification to the Phuc Trach Organic Pomelo Production Cooperative in Ngoc Boi village, Phuc Trach commune; and simultaneously signed contracts for the consumption of organic pomelo products between businesses, cooperatives, and individual producers. This activity contributes to expanding market outlets, increasing value, and affirming the brand position of Ha Tinh pomelo in the market.
