The Significance of Workers' Month

The 2025 Workers' Month, themed "Vietnamese Workers Pioneering into a New Era," is a celebration for the working class with many vibrant and practical activities aimed at improving the lives and employment of workers and laborers; while also promoting the pioneering role of workers as the country enters a new era of national development.

For over 11 years, Workers' Month has truly become a major festival for workers nationwide in general, and in Long An province in particular, with many specific activities focused on workers and receiving profound attention from Party committees, government agencies, employers, the enthusiastic participation of a large number of union members and workers, and positive recognition from the entire society. Trade unions at all levels have actively implemented many activities to represent, care for, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; improve working conditions for workers; build harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations in enterprises; and affirm the role and position of trade union organizations in the socio-economic development of the province.

Workers and laborers are commended and rewarded for their outstanding performance.

This year's Workers' Month, themed "Vietnamese Workers Pioneering into a New Era," saw the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions organize many practical activities aimed at union members and workers. These included welfare programs for union members; visits to union members and workers in difficult circumstances, union members, workers, and civil servants suffering from serious illnesses; the construction of "Union Shelters"; and an online competition on "Understanding the 2024 Trade Union Law and the 2024 Social Insurance Law ,"…

In particular, activities in response to Workers' Month were focused on by trade union levels. These activities mainly focused on member welfare programs, signing collective labor agreements, improving the spiritual life of union members and workers; organizing programs promoting creativity and confidence in entering a new era; May Dialogue; the Party-Workers Forum; propaganda and raising awareness among union members and workers; expressing gratitude to workers; a month-long campaign for developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions; introducing and developing worker Party members; activities honoring outstanding workers; forums for meetings and dialogues between workers for businesses and businesses for workers;…

Workers and laborers in difficult circumstances received gifts from the Provincial Labor Union.

This year, during Workers' Month, the Provincial Labor Union presented 5,300 gifts to disadvantaged workers in the province, each gift worth 1 million VND; and provided financial support for the construction of 5 Union-sponsored homes out of a total of 46 homes disbursed to union members for construction in the first four months of 2025, each home worth 70 million VND. In addition, the Provincial Labor Union organized a "Thank You to Workers" program at 20 enterprises in the province; and also encouraged enterprises to donate gifts to workers in support of the program.

Ms. Cao Thi Nga, a worker at Tan Thanh Loi Co., Ltd. (Thu Thua district), shared: “My family still faces many difficulties. My husband has been ill for many years and cannot work. My monthly income barely covers the family expenses and my young grandchild's. Thanks to the attention of the trade union at all levels during Workers' Month, I feel encouraged and my current difficulties are somewhat alleviated. I will try my best to work and contribute to improving the quality of the company's products to maintain my job and have a stable income.”

Workers' Month is not only an occasion to show appreciation and care for workers, but also a chance to inspire creativity and promote the pioneering role of the working class in the new era.

2025 is the first year of implementing the 2024 Trade Union Law; the second year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union; and the third year of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Long An Provincial Trade Union. It is also a time when trade unions at all levels in the province, with high determination and great effort, will work together to put the resolutions of the trade union congresses at all levels, the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Long An Provincial Trade Union, and the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union for the 2023-2028 term into practice in the workers', civil servants', and laborers' movement and trade union activities.

With that requirement and significance in mind, during the Workers' Month in 2025, the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions encouraged union members and workers to promote responsibility, creativity, and flexibility in work, labor, and production. In particular, to promote a pioneering role in entering the new era, all levels of trade unions focused on organizing creative worker programs, confidently stepping into the new era; reminding and encouraging workers to actively study, improve their skills, change careers, access modern labor trends, adapt to the context of international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution , and prepare for the new development phase of the country; and actively participating in emulation movements, especially the "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" emulation movement.

Thanks to the initiatives of the workers, production activities at the enterprise have become more efficient, improving product quality.

From the emulation movement of skilled and innovative labor, many outstanding individuals have emerged, with technical innovation initiatives that have achieved efficiency in labor and production. Mr. Pham Minh Cuong, a worker at Ray Tu Co., Ltd. (Can Giuoc district), has an initiative to replace plastic cups with plastic bottles with lids used in the paint wiping process. When this initiative is applied, the tools used are durable, reusable many times, save water, and do not harm the environment, benefiting the company by 160 million VND per year.

Mr. Ho Xuan Su, Deputy Director of the VietNamSolar Joint Stock Company (Duc Hue district), actively participates in the "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" emulation movement launched by the grassroots trade union. He has an initiative to apply software for weather forecasting and power generation forecasting for the Solar Park 1, 2, 3, and 4 solar power plant complex, which earned him a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee and won second prize at the Provincial Technical Innovation Competition in 2022-2023. He also received a Certificate of Creative Labor from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. In 2024, Mr. Su added another initiative: adjusting the tilt angle of solar panels for high efficiency, saving the company over 11 billion VND.

Driven by a passion for innovation, Tran Quoc Quang, the head of the testing team at Phan Vu Long An Concrete Co., Ltd. (Ben Luc district), has also come up with many initiatives that have brought practical benefits to the company's production activities.

Mr. Quang stated: “Under the guidance and direction of the factory's leadership regarding optimizing production costs and product quality, and simultaneously minimizing construction waste released into the environment, building on the foundation laid by my predecessors, I proceeded to replace 10-30% of the cement in concrete with finely ground slag. After a long period of collecting statistical data, I selected the optimal concrete composition in terms of cost and quality for mass production. After implementing this initiative, the biggest and most effective change is that it helps the company save on material costs, thereby reducing product prices, indirectly increasing sales, and in the long run providing stable income and jobs for workers. This initiative benefits the company by more than 400 million VND per year and reduces CO2 emissions, contributing to environmental protection.”

Workers' Month is not only an occasion to show appreciation and care for workers, but also an opportunity to inspire creativity and promote the pioneering role of the working class in the new era. The practical and meaningful actions of workers have been spreading a positive, responsible, and innovative spirit in labor and production, thereby affirming the important role of workers in the socio-economic development of the locality and the country in the current era of national progress.
