Salah's future |
After the disappointing 3-3 draw against Leeds on December 7, Salah unexpectedly criticized coach Arne Slot. This is considered the Egyptian striker's harshest statement since joining the Anfield team. These words opened up the possibility of him leaving in January, just 8 months after signing a new contract.
On the Rio Ferdinand Presents program, when asked whether Manchester United should jump in for the deal, Ferdinand initially denied the possibility of Salah moving to Old Trafford, emphasizing: "He will never come to Manchester United."
But when host Ste Howson pressed him further, the former centre-back quipped, "If it were me, I'd send the offer. Publicly." Howson replied, "I'd do it just to see the chaos erupt."
The idea was clearly meant as a joke, but it immediately attracted attention. Salah is a Liverpool icon with 250 goals in 420 games, a living legend at Anfield. The chances of him wearing the shirt of their rivals, the "Red Devils," are almost zero, not to mention he's not the type of player suited to Rúben Amorim's 3-4-3 system.
Nevertheless, the controversy surrounding Salah and his poor form, with only 5 goals this season, have kept his future at Liverpool a focal point of English football in recent days.
