Booking.com, a Dutch-based booking app, announced on August 13th a list of the top 10 most popular domestic destinations chosen by Vietnamese travelers during the National Day holiday on September 2nd. The statistics are based on searches, bookings, and check-ins from August 31st to September 3rd.
According to Booking , in order to make the most of their upcoming long vacation, Vietnamese travelers tend to choose experiences that satisfy both elements: relaxation and exploration .
Da Lat tops the list, highly praised by tourists for its natural scenery, numerous ancient French-style architectural structures, cool climate, romantic and peaceful atmosphere, and delicious cuisine .
Thanks to these advantages, Da Lat has maintained its position as the most visited destination for Vietnamese tourists during National Day for five consecutive years. Sa Pa, a destination located in the Northwest mountainous region, with similar advantages to Da Lat, is also in the top 10 this year.
The remaining names in the top 10 include Da Nang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hanoi , and Hue. Phan Thiet is a "new star" appearing in the ranking for the first time, partly thanks to the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, which makes travel more convenient and reduces travel time for tourists.
For international destinations, due to the holiday only lasting four days and not enough time for long flights, destinations in the Asia-Pacific region are the most popular choice for Vietnamese travelers.
Bangkok, Thailand is the most popular choice, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, Bali, and Chiang Mai. These destinations share common characteristics: vibrant cities, diverse experiences, rich cuisine, and convenient shopping. Flights to these locations are numerous and have short durations.
Varun Grover, Vietnam Country Director of Booking, said that the September 2nd holiday is an opportunity for families to enjoy memorable time together before the new school year begins. This year's travel trends show that Vietnamese travelers are looking for holidays that combine multiple experiences, from cultural exploration to relaxation at mountain resorts and sunny beaches.
