According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4am today, Vietnam time, was 3,031.79 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 1.2% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,810 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 94.3 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is nearly 4 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices rose 1% to a new record high, surpassing the $3,000/ounce mark, Reuters reported, as rising tensions in the Middle East and trade uncertainties due to US President Donald Trump’s tariff plans boosted demand for the safe-haven asset.

Spot gold peaked at $3,038.26 an ounce. By 9:46 a.m. ET (13:46 GMT), it was up nearly 1% at $3,029.69 an ounce, its first time above $3,000 since March 14. U.S. gold futures also rose 1.05% to $3,038.00.

Gold had a very successful year last year and has continued its upward momentum this year. Gold prices are up more than 15% year to date and have hit a record high 14 times.

“We are seeing strong gold prices today as safe-haven demand continues, driven by renewed conflict in the Middle East, rising trade tensions and strong central bank buying,” said Jim Wyckoff, senior analyst at Kitco Metals.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has proposed a series of US tariff plans. These include a 25% flat tariff on steel and aluminum that went into effect in February, as well as reciprocal and sectoral tariffs that he said would be imposed on April 2.

Gold is traditionally considered a safe investment during times of economic or geopolitical uncertainty.

Investors will now be closely watching talks between President Trump and President Putin later in the day, where Trump is expected to push for a ceasefire in Ukraine. They will also be watching the Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting.

Traders expect the Fed to leave interest rates unchanged on Wednesday. However, according to CME Group's FedWatch tool, they see a nearly 66% chance of a rate cut in June.

"If gold holds above $3,040, the next resistance is expected to be $3,080 in an extreme scenario," said Razan Hilal, market analyst at City Index.

Silver also rose 0.8% to $34.10 an ounce, after hitting its highest since late October.

“We could see silver move higher in the next few weeks as it catches up with gold,” Wycoff said.

Platinum was steady at $1,000.30 and palladium rose 0.1% to $965.50.
