4 cases of citizens who can register for military service online

In the draft Law on Military Service, to conform to the policy of organizing a two-level local government model, the Ministry of National Defense (the drafting agency) has added an online registration option for citizens.

Relatives advised and encouraged the new recruits to perform all tasks well.

Accordingly, citizens will be able to register online in the following cases: performing military service for the first time; registering for additional military service; when changing residence or place of work or study; or temporary absence.

Specifically, for the first military service , in January of each year, the commander of the commune-level military command, the head or legal representative of the agency or organization reports to the chairman of the commune-level People's Committee the list of male citizens who are 17 years old in the year and male citizens of military service age who have not yet registered for military service. In April of each year, the chairman of the commune-level People's Committee issues an order to call citizens to register for their first military service.

Citizens must register for military service for the first time online or in person at the military service registration agency specified in Article 15 of the draft law.

Regarding additional military service registration, citizens who have registered for military service when changing their job position, educational level, professional qualifications, health status and other information related to military service must make additional registration online or directly at the military service registration agency.

Regarding military service registration when changing place of residence or place of work or study , citizens who have registered for military service when changing place of residence or place of work or study must register online or directly at the agency that registered for military service to carry out procedures to transfer military service registration.

Within 10 working days from the date of arrival at the new place of residence or work or study, one must register online or in person at the military service registration agency to register for transfer.

In case a citizen who has registered for military service is called to study at a vocationaltraining institution or a university in the national education system, he/she must register online or directly at the agency where he/she registered for military service to complete the procedures for transferring military service registration to the educational institution. After leaving school, he/she must complete the procedures for transferring military service registration to the new place of residence or workplace. The head of the educational institution is responsible for organizing the citizen to register for military service and transfer military service registration.

Regarding temporary military service registration , citizens who have registered for military service, if they leave their place of residence or place of work or study for 3 months or more, must register online or in person at the place of military service registration to register for temporary military service; when returning to their place of residence or place of work or study within 10 working days, they must re-register.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, adding an online registration form is to implement the Government's Project 06.
