Implementing the project to continue to reorganize local military organizations, up to now, Military Regions and Border Guard Commands have focused on leading and directing the dissolution of 29/63 provincial military commands and reorganizing 34 provincial military commands.
At the same time, 694 district-level Military Commands were dissolved and 145 new regional defense commands were established; 44 provincial-level Border Guard Commands were dissolved and 30 Border Guard Commands were established under provincial-level Military Commands.
This is a new and unprecedented task with a large workload and involves many agencies and units. However, the Border Guard Command Party Committee has closely coordinated with the Military Regions to thoroughly grasp and implement it strictly, seriously and promptly in accordance with the direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense .
In the past time, the Border Guard Commands have done a good job of preparing, proactively coordinating with the functional agencies of the Military Commands of provinces and cities to appraise data, unify the content of the handover minutes to ensure quality and on schedule.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, requested Military Regions and Border Guard Commands to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the policies and conclusions of their superiors.
He also noted that units need to unite, coordinate closely, regularly exchange and report on the situation, promptly remove difficulties, obstacles and shortcomings in implementation; issues beyond authority must be promptly reported to superiors for consideration and resolution.
The Border Guard Command continues to promote the tradition of the heroic Border Guard force, quickly integrate, and perform well the border guard tasks according to the new organizational model and leadership, command, and management mechanism; strengthen training and coaching to further improve the quality of combat training, build a regular discipline; and coordinate in defense operations.
Agencies and units of the Military Region and local military forces should strengthen training, coaching, research, and study to improve their understanding and grasp of regulations on management and protection of national borders and border defense tasks to ensure good performance of local military and defense tasks and border defense tasks in the new situation.
