Building schools amidst hardship.

Turning to the first pages of history, Ky Anh High School ( Ha Tinh province ) was officially established on September 12, 1965 - amidst the fierce years of the war of destruction against North Vietnam waged by the US imperialists. Therefore, the construction of the school had to ensure both secrecy and camouflage, as well as the availability of shelters and trenches. After many days of searching for a location, students were initially gathered in Ky Thu, but soon after had to be moved to Ky Giang.

On October 15, 1965, the first school bell rang, marking a momentous historical event. In just five years (1965-1970), the school had to be evacuated five times to six different locations. The thatched-roof, mud-walled classrooms, the bomb shelters next to the desks and chairs, and the lessons interspersed with air raid sirens are deeply etched in the memories of both teachers and students. Teaching while simultaneously moving, digging shelters, and constructing temporary structures to ensure safety – it was truly a "school in the middle of the battlefield."

“Today, Ky Anh High School not only firmly embraces innovation, integration, and development, but also fully preserves precious traditional values: unity, flexibility, creativity, always looking towards the future but never forgetting our roots, and always knowing how to learn from the past to embrace the present.” – Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Principal of the school.

During those years, Mr. Le Van Khanh - the principal and the school's first Party member - along with 7 teachers and 135 students, laid the first foundations amidst countless difficulties. Despite being born amidst the smoke and fire of bombs and bullets, the unwavering will and studious spirit of the teachers and students of Ky Anh were nurtured and shone ever brighter. In the very first school year, Nguyen Tien Binh excelled, achieving the title of outstanding student in Literature throughout the entire North.

The "Two Goods" emulation movement became a model for the entire province. The "school workshop" and "school garden" models were effectively implemented for many years. In 1977, the school was honored to be presented as a model nationwide and was proposed for replication throughout the country. While diligently studying, hundreds of students from the school were ready to go to war, answering the call of the Fatherland, putting aside their pens and books to fight. Many of them became part of the nation, contributing to shaping the country as it is today.

After the reunification of the country, stabilizing the educational infrastructure became urgent. In 1977, the Ky Anh District Party Committee and People's Committee decided to choose Con Cum (Ky Hung commune, now Song Tri ward) as the official location of the school. At that time, Con Cum was just a barren hillside riddled with bomb craters. Mr. Nguyen Trinh Thuyen - the school principal - along with the Infrastructure Committee and hundreds of teachers and students leveled the ground and rebuilt the classrooms.

Amidst the harsh sun and wind, the sweat-soaked clothes of teachers and students continued to sow the seeds for a new journey of development. From there, the school gradually stabilized, expanded in scale, and flourished strongly under the continuous efforts of many generations of teachers, students, and dedicated, responsible, and visionary leaders such as Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Trinh Thuyen, Meritorious Teacher Tran Trung Dung, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Song, Mr. Tran Dac Thuoc, Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Thi Le Thuy, and now Mr. Tran Huu Linh along with the school's Board of Directors.

To adapt, integrate, and develop.

Over the years, amidst the changes in the country and the world , especially during the pandemic, the Party Committee and the School Board have been flexible and innovative in their leadership, implementing many breakthrough solutions in curriculum development and teaching organization. Teachers and students have persevered through difficulties, transforming challenges into motivation, maintaining teaching discipline while ensuring safety and adapting flexibly to the new circumstances.

Ky Anh High School has been recognized by the Party, the State, and various levels and sectors with many prestigious awards: three times awarded the Labor Medal by the President (First, Second, and Third Class); the Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; and numerous times awarded Emulation Flags and Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Provincial People's Committee. From 2007 to the present, the school has been recognized as meeting national standards for educational quality accreditation and has consistently been an Outstanding Labor Collective.

In particular, in response to the demand for fundamental and comprehensive educational reform, the school has granted autonomy to its subject departments. Teachers continuously learn, innovate, and improve their methods, applying information technology and digital transformation to meet the new general education curriculum, helping students develop their abilities and qualities comprehensively. Vigorous emulation movements are implemented, creating motivation for teachers and students. Extracurricular activities, experiential learning, and life skills training are increasingly emphasized.

Entering the 21st century, Ky Anh High School continues to grow in both size and quality, taking on a new appearance and stature. From 2007 to the present, the school has maintained 45 classes with nearly 2,000 students. By 2025, the total number of staff, teachers, and employees will be 102 people (4 administrators, 90 teachers, and 8 support staff), including 17 teachers with qualifications above the standard, 4 core teachers at the provincial level, 10 excellent teachers at the provincial level, and 2 Distinguished Teachers.

Every year, the number of outstanding students and students admitted to universities and colleges increases, helping Ky Anh High School consistently rank among the top non-specialized high schools in the province – a clear testament to the school's prestige and reputation.

Upholding the tradition of "a poor land with a strong tradition of learning"

Six decades is not just a milestone, but an epic of creation and dedication. The school has become a "red address" of knowledge, a place where generations of dedicated teachers have woven a golden history of tradition.

In particular, Ky Anh High School is proud to have three educators who once held the important position of Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh Province: People's Teacher Le Duc Quy, Doctor and Meritorious Teacher Tran Trung Dung, and Doctor Nguyen Thi Nguyet - a testament to the tradition of inheritance and sustainable development.

From the first graduating class to the present day, tens of thousands of students have graduated from this school. Many have become key officials in Party and State agencies and businesses; professors, doctors, engineers, and teachers both domestically and internationally, contributing to the glorious tradition of "a poor land with a strong tradition of learning."

Throughout its 60-year journey of development and growth, the school has always received attention and guidance from all levels and sectors; encouragement from the Party Committee, government, and people; and the companionship of generations of teachers and alumni. This connection has forged a strong tradition: previous generations built and entrusted trust; subsequent generations inherit and develop, creating an ever-flowing stream of knowledge.

Against the backdrop of deep international integration, the southern region of Ha Tinh - with the Vung Ang Economic Zone - is becoming a key economic center, opening up many new opportunities and responsibilities for the school: opportunities for networking, career guidance, and expanded cooperation; and the responsibility of raising the intellectual level of the population and training high-quality human resources to serve the sustainable development of the homeland.

A new chapter is unfolding, and Ky Anh High School continues to steadfastly pursue its goal: building a "happy school"; fostering active, proactive, and well-rounded students; and cultivating a teaching staff that is professionally competent, morally upright, and modern in their thinking – possessing the necessary dedication, vision, intellect, virtue, and ambition.

Sixty years of brilliant achievements – built upon a tradition of studiousness, a spirit of overcoming difficulties, flexibility, and creativity – Ky Anh High School will continue to steadily reach new heights.
