On October 27th, a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the relocation of cadres, soldiers, and students from Quang Nam to the North (October 1954-October 2024) was held in Hanoi .

At the commemoration ceremony, Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung stated that the Geneva Agreement, signed in 1954, temporarily divided the country into two regions, North and South.

From the early days of relocating to the North, the people of Quang Nam were loved, protected, educated, and provided with work and favorable conditions by the Party, the State, the people of the North in general, and the people of Hanoi in particular, enabling them to successfully fulfill their duties to the country and their homeland.

To date, many cadres, soldiers, and students from Quang Nam have grown up and achieved success in Hanoi. Many of them are leaders of the Party and State, leaders of various sectors and localities, Heroes of the Armed Forces, Labor Heroes; generals and high-ranking officers; leading scientists in many fields; famous artists, musicians, painters, journalists; and many successful entrepreneurs, contributing to the glory of their homeland, Quang Nam.

Sharing information on the socio-economic situation of Quang Nam province in recent times "to bring joy to the people of Quang Nam living in Hanoi," Mr. Le Van Dung said that the province is focusing on implementing the contents of the provincial planning until 2030, which has been approved by the Prime Minister.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai presented gifts and extended birthday wishes to delegates who are officials and veterans at the meeting.

Among these, several important initiatives have been actively implemented, such as the policy of socializing investment and operation of Chu Lai Airport in conjunction with the Tam Quang Free Trade Zone; the formation of a Natural Medicinal Herb Industry Center; a Mechanical and Supporting Industry Center; a Silica Mining and Processing Center; investment in channels and seaports for 50,000-ton vessels; investment in National Highway 14D, National Highway 14E, and the road to Chu Lai Port; preservation and promotion of the value of the Hoi An Ancient Town World Heritage Site; and the socialization of the My Son temple complex…

Successfully implementing the above contents will be an important prerequisite, contributing to the successful achievement of the goal of making Quang Nam a moderately developed province in the country by 2030.

Currently, the province is actively preparing for the Party Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the homeland and the reunification of the country (1975-2025) - Mr. Le Van Dung emphasized and expressed that "the above results have been made possible by the active and responsible contributions of the people of Quang Nam in Hanoi." The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province hopes that the people of Quang Nam in Hanoi will continue to unite, uphold the fine traditions of their homeland; work diligently and study hard to contribute to building, developing, and protecting the country and the capital city of Hanoi, always looking towards their beloved homeland.

Information presented at the commemoration also revealed that in 1954, the Vietnamese nation experienced a major historical turning point, leaving an unforgettable mark.

Among the cadres, soldiers, students, and people from the South who relocated to the North, there were thousands of cadres, soldiers, and students from Quang Nam province.

Loved and supported by the Party, the State, the people of North Vietnam in general, and the people of Hanoi in particular, the sons and daughters of Quang Nam always stood shoulder to shoulder with the people and army of Hanoi and the people of North Vietnam to defeat the destructive war waged by the American imperialists, contributing to the liberation of South Vietnam, the reunification of the country, and the building of the nation.

As shared by those from Quang Nam who relocated to the North in 1954, 70 years is not a long time in the thousand-year history of Thang Long-Hanoi, but it is enough to acknowledge the close bonds of love and the positive contributions of generations of people from Quang Nam to the country and the capital.

We are proud of the loving bonds between the people of Quang Nam and the people of Hanoi, proud of the deep love for our homeland and the contributions of the Quang Nam community living far from home throughout the country.
