On the afternoon of June 16th, in an interview with VietNamNet reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tran Tuan, Head of the Krong Buk District Police ( Dak Lak province ), confirmed that a total of 8 suspects had surrendered. The suspects who surrendered are very young, some even born in 2000, and most reside in Cu Pong commune.
"We are coordinating with relevant authorities to continue pursuing the suspects involved, while simultaneously encouraging them to surrender in order to receive leniency," said the Chief of Police of Krông Búk District.
Earlier, in the early morning of June 11th, a group of people attacked the headquarters of Ea Tiêu and Ea Ktur communes (Cư Kuin district) with guns and Molotov cocktails, killing 4 police officers and 2 commune officials; 3 civilians were also killed. The attack also left 2 police officers seriously injured.
Immediately afterwards, the Ministry of Public Security directed the Dak Lak Provincial Police and other professional units to quickly apprehend the group of suspects. By the afternoon of June 16th, more than 50 individuals involved in the incident had been arrested.
