Hanoi National University has just announced the first round of competency assessment exam - HSA 2024 taking place on March 23 and 24, 3.
According to statistics from the Examination Council, this HSA exam took place at 8 exam locations including: Hanoi National University Testing Center, University of Technology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, Banking Academy, Thai Binh University and Nam Dinh University of Technical Education.
A total of 11.014 candidates took the exam (more than 98% of registered candidates), a much higher rate than the same exam period last year. Some test locations have 100% of candidates present for the test. During the two days of the exam, 9 candidates were suspended for violating the Competency Assessment Exam Regulations of Hanoi National University.
This year is also the first time the testing center has deployed candidate identification technology at all testing locations. Candidates are required to present their Citizen Identification card and have their photo identified when completing exam procedures.
The HSA score report will be sent to candidates by mail 1 week after taking the exam. VNU Testing Center will announce the scores for the March and April exams in early May 3.
Hanoi National University Testing Center also affirmed that it does not publish any publications related to exam preparation. Online advertising materials are unofficial and do not serve a competency assessment test.
The next round of exams will take place on April 6 and 7 in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, the number of candidates registered to take the exam is about more than 4.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center, Hanoi National University, said that including 6 HSA exam rounds this year, 95.000 candidates have completed their exam selection, reaching 99% of the expected number of seats. Registered candidates come from 58 provinces and cities nationwide. Localities with a large number of candidates are Hanoi (36%), Nam Dinh (6,7%), Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An (5,1-5,8%).
The competency assessment exam was organized by Hanoi National University from 2015 and 2016, then stopped until 2021 to reopen. The current HSA test is taken on a computer, in 195 to 199 minutes, with a maximum score of 150. The test consists of three parts with objective multiple-choice questions (answer selection), answer-filling questions in the field Mathematics (50 questions, 75 minutes), Literature - Language (50 questions, 60 minutes), Natural and social sciences (50 questions, 60 minutes). Parts 1 and 3 will have 1-3 additional test questions, not scored.
Candidates look up test scores and receive a certificate after 14 days. Currently, 90 schools say they use the results of Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam for admission. Of these, 17 military schools are using this exam score for the first time.
Last year, more than 90.000 candidates registered, the number of participants was 87.000, the valedictorian scored 133/150 points. The minimum score for receiving applications using this method for popular schools is from 70 to 85 points.
The whole country currently has more than 10 exams to assess capacity and thinking. Among them, the exams of the two national universities have the largest scale. Ho Chi Minh City National University said that the first phase of the exam had more than 1 registered candidates, also a record high ever.
